At the 2023 Australian Open, Jenson Brooksby, Hubert Hurkacz, Rafael Nadal and Sebastian Korda were reported wearing watches on court. Their identified models range from lightweight Gerald Charles sports watches to Richard Mille pieces; these are event-specific sightings, not confirmation of what the players wear today.
Four players and the watches reported at the 2023 Australian Open
Tennis.com identified these four players and models during the 2023 Australian Open. Its reported weights and prices are historical figures from that coverage, not current specifications or quotes.

The coverage also identified Barbora Krejčíková wearing a stainless-steel Daniel Wellington Classic Southampton and reported a $209 retail price in 2023. That is a more accessible named example, but the price and sighting are historical, not a current listing or quote.
What players have said about wearing a watch while playing
In a 2016 WorldTempus interview, Stan Wawrinka said he wore an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver Chronograph on his left wrist on court and did not notice it while playing. He described the experience this way: “I’m lucky enough to have a one-handed backhand and, despite the fact that watches can be quite heavy, it wasn’t a problem at all.” This is his account at that time, not current confirmation of the model.

Why a watch might be visible on court
Tennis.com’s 2023 coverage discussed lighter, more durable watches and sponsorship visibility as reasons watchmakers seek on-court exposure. A watch visible in a match image does not, by itself, establish a player’s endorsement or private ownership, and these examples do not show that a watch improves performance or that most professionals wear one.
Tour-level timekeeping partnerships are separate from players’ personal on-court watches. In December 2025, the ATP announced that Rolex continued as its Official Timekeeper and Gold Partner; that does not establish that any individual player wears a Rolex during matches.

Traditional watches and connected wearables are different cases
The player examples above are conventional watches. They should not be confused with smartwatches or fitness trackers, which raise separate event-policy questions.
An ITF officiating policy document dated January 2024 prohibits smart watches for officials on court; that stated rule concerns officials. Separately, an Associated Press report from the 2026 Australian Open said wearables had been approved by the ITF and tours but were not then permitted at the four Grand Slam tournaments. The report described Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka being asked to remove wrist devices and quoted Tennis Australia: “Wearables are currently not permitted at Grand Slams.” It also noted ongoing discussions about possible change. Those statements describe the situation reported at that time, not a permanent global rule.
