Franck Muller’s 2019 WPHH collection included several new lines, but the standout for fans of playful time displays was the Vanguard Crazy Hours: the complication’s first appearance in a Vanguard case. Here are five design directions worth favouriting, with an important distinction: the official launch material confirms the debut and describes selected versions, but does not identify a definitive five-watch shortlist. These are therefore five documented ways to understand the collection—not a claimed ranking of five individually verified 2019 references.
What made the 2019 collection notable?
In a press release dated January 24, 2019, Franck Muller announced several collections for WPHH, including Vanguard Crazy Hours, Vanguard Lady Skeleton, Vanguard Racing, Vanguard Yachting Anchor Skeleton and Skafander. The release also introduced Remember, a separate collection with a counter-clockwise time display. Franck Muller’s WPHH 2019 announcement establishes the launch context; it does not name five individual Crazy Hours watches.

The key Crazy Hours milestone was a change of case: the complication, previously associated with the Cintrée Curvex, appeared in the Vanguard case for the first time in January 2019. The Crazy Hours mechanism is not simply an irregular-looking dial. Its hour numerals are arranged unconventionally, but the jumping hour hand advances to the next correct hour numeral; the minute hand continues through a conventional 60-minute cycle. Franck Muller explains that successive numerals advance around the dial by approximately 150 degrees. The brand’s Crazy Hours explanation describes the display and selected designs.
Five favourite design directions
The first two entries below are versions described in the brand’s launch-related Crazy Hours article. The remaining three are useful current catalog directions, not claims that those families were all launched in 2019. The current catalog groups Vanguard Crazy Hours under Classical, Yachting, Hom Nguyen and Jisbar; its page does not date each family’s introduction. Franck Muller’s current Vanguard Crazy Hours catalog lists these groupings and selected references.

1. Carbon-case men’s Vanguard Crazy Hours
This is the most direct expression of the 2019 case-and-complication pairing: a lightweight black carbon Vanguard case, bright hand-applied Arabic numerals, matching side inserts and crown, and a hand-sewn alligator strap with colored stitching. The contrast makes the unconventional numeral sequence easier to take in at a glance while keeping the overall look sporty. The cited brand article does not provide a specific reference number or a full technical specification for this version.
2. Vanguard Crazy Hours Lady
The Lady version takes the same unusual hour display in a more decorative direction. Franck Muller describes glamorous colors, a sun-stamped lacquer dial, hand-applied numerals and a case set with 299 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 3.83 carats. That figure belongs to the Lady design described in the brand article; it should not be generalized to every Lady or Crazy Hours reference.

3. Classical: the clearest catalog starting point
Classical is a current catalog grouping for the Vanguard Crazy Hours, with listed variants including V 45 CH BR (BL), (VR), (OR) and (RG). It is the most straightforward direction to explore if the priority is the signature jumping-hour display rather than a named artist or a nautical theme. The catalog listing does not establish that every listed variant was part of the January 2019 launch, nor does the cited page give complete specifications for each reference.
4. Yachting: a nautical-themed variation
The current catalog includes Yachting variants such as V 45 CH YACHT (BL) and V 45 CH YACHT D. The family name gives this direction a nautical identity within the Crazy Hours range, while the central complication remains the unusual jumping-hour display. The catalog does not date these versions to 2019, and its listing alone does not establish their detailed materials or specifications.

5. Hom Nguyen or Jisbar: artist-led catalog directions
Hom Nguyen and Jisbar are named groupings on the current Vanguard Crazy Hours catalog page. The Hom Nguyen list includes V 45 CH HN LTD and V 45 CH HN COL DRM LTD; the page also has a Jisbar section. These are worthwhile directions for readers drawn to artist-associated variants, but the current page does not establish that either grouping debuted in 2019. It also does not give enough detail to compare individual editions by materials, dial execution or production numbers.
How Crazy Hours differs from the other 2019 launches
Crazy Hours changes the visual order of the hours while preserving a familiar minute cycle. Remember takes a different approach: the WPHH 2019 release describes its numerals and hands moving counter-clockwise. It is a separate collection, not another name for Crazy Hours.

The same release provides technical details for Remember reference 2850 SC REM: an 18k rose-gold case measuring 31 × 43 × 7.3 mm, 30-meter water resistance, the self-winding FM 2800 INV movement and a 42-hour power reserve. Those figures apply to that Remember reference only; they are not specifications for Vanguard Crazy Hours.

The five directions above help narrow the style, but a family name is not a substitute for reference-level information. The available official pages do not establish a definitive five-watch 2019 selection or provide complete specifications for five individual Crazy Hours references. Before comparing or buying, confirm the exact reference and its corresponding case material, dial and numeral treatment, movement, dimensions, water resistance, edition status and availability with an authoritative listing or seller. The current catalog is a snapshot of listed families, not proof that every variant remains available or that it belonged to the 2019 launch.
