Apple Watch Series 11 may suit you better if you prioritize iPhone integration, cellular connectivity, Apple’s health features, or fast charging.
The choice is not a universal verdict on which watch is more accurate or better overall: their manufacturers publish different battery estimates, and the available step-count comparison is only one limited test. Here are five reasons a fitness-focused buyer might choose Venu 4, along with the trade-offs to weigh.
At a glance: Venu 4 vs. Apple Watch Series 11
| Decision factor | Garmin Venu 4 | Apple Watch Series 11 |
|---|---|---|
| Advertised battery life | Up to 12 days in smartwatch mode, according to Garmin; actual runtime varies by size, settings, and use. | Up to 24 hours, according to Apple; actual runtime varies by use. |
| Training context | Garmin lists HRV Status, Body Battery, workout benefit, recovery time, Training Readiness, and wrist-based running dynamics. | Apple offers fitness and workout features alongside its broader Apple ecosystem. |
| Health and sleep | Garmin presents sleep, HRV, and Body Battery within its ongoing health and activity tracking experience. | Apple highlights sleep score and hypertension notifications; availability and requirements vary. |
| Connected features | Garmin lists a flashlight, speaker and microphone, music storage, Garmin Pay, smart notifications, and safety and tracking features. | Apple offers 5G cellular capability on applicable models; calls and messages away from iPhone require a cellular plan. |
| Charging | Battery life is a central advantage, but the quoted runtime is a manufacturer estimate. | Apple says 15 minutes of charging can provide up to 8 hours of battery life under its stated conditions. |
1. Garmin advertises much longer battery life
Garmin advertises up to 12 days of battery life in smartwatch mode for Venu 4. Apple advertises up to 24 hours for Apple Watch Series 11. These are manufacturer estimates based on different modes and assumptions, not equivalent laboratory measurements or a guarantee of the time every owner will get.
Longer stated runtime can make it easier to keep a watch on for sleep tracking and regular daily wear without planning around a daily charge. Actual Venu 4 battery life depends on factors such as display settings, GPS, music, notifications, and other features. Apple’s shorter stated runtime is partly offset by its fast-charge claim: Apple says 15 minutes of charging can provide up to 8 hours of battery life, with results dependent on charging conditions.

2. Garmin brings training and recovery context together
Garmin lists HRV Status, Body Battery, workout benefit, recovery time, Training Readiness, and wrist-based running dynamics among Venu 4’s features. These tools put activity and recovery information into Garmin’s training ecosystem and may help users review recent training and plan workouts. They are guidance features, not guaranteed coaching outcomes or clinical measurements.
Garmin’s February 2026 update table also includes Venu 4 for Fitness Coach and lifestyle logging features. Feature availability can depend on software and the Garmin ecosystem. Apple Watch Series 11 also has fitness and workout tools, but the distinction for this comparison is Garmin’s emphasis on training context rather than a claim that it is superior at every exercise or measurement.
3. Its longer runtime can support continuous health and sleep tracking
Garmin presents sleep, HRV, and Body Battery as part of an ongoing picture of health and activity. For someone who wants to wear a watch overnight and review longer-term patterns, the advertised multi-day runtime may make that routine more convenient.

Apple Watch Series 11 has a sleep score, and Apple says its development and testing drew on over 5 million nights of sleep data from the Apple Heart and Movement Study. That is Apple’s account of its research process, not independent confirmation of the feature’s accuracy. Neither sleep scores nor other wellness metrics should be treated as a diagnosis or substitute for professional medical advice.

4. Venu 4 includes practical on-watch utilities
Garmin’s Venu 4 announcement highlights a built-in LED flashlight, speaker and microphone, music storage, Garmin Pay, smart notifications, and safety and tracking features. The flashlight can be useful for small tasks in low light, while the other features add everyday convenience. Which utilities matter most depends on how you use your watch.

Apple Watch Series 11 offers a different set of strengths, including 5G cellular capability on applicable models. Calls and messages when away from the paired iPhone require a cellular plan. Consider whether you value Garmin’s listed utilities or Apple’s connected features more; neither list establishes a universal winner.
5. Garmin is a fitness-first alternative to Apple’s connected ecosystem
Venu 4 may be the better fit if your priority is Garmin’s training and health-tracking context alongside longer advertised battery life. Apple Watch Series 11 is a strong alternative for buyers who value its iPhone relationship, Apple health features, cellular option, and faster charging.

Price is another factor, but the available research establishes Garmin’s U.S. launch suggested retail price, not current street pricing or a verified present-day price gap. Garmin announced a starting MSRP of $549.99 in 2025. Check current official listings for both watches, and compare the same size and configuration before deciding.

What the step-count comparison can and cannot tell you
In one Tom’s Guide walk test, a manually counted 10,792 steps compared with 10,984 registered by Venu 4 and 10,574 by Apple Watch Series 11. Tom’s Guide said broader testing would be needed to compare overall accuracy. This single walk does not establish which watch is generally more accurate, and it says nothing about heart-rate, sleep, or GPS accuracy.
How to choose between the two watches
- Choose Garmin Venu 4 if Garmin’s training and recovery context, longer advertised battery runtime, or its listed on-watch utilities match your priorities.
- Choose Apple Watch Series 11 if Apple’s health and sleep features, iPhone integration, cellular capability, or fast charging matter more to you.
- Check current requirements and pricing before buying: verify regional health-feature availability, cellular-plan needs, and the price of the size and configuration you want.

Does Apple Watch Series 11 charge quickly?
Apple says 15 minutes of charging can provide up to 8 hours of battery life. Charging conditions and actual results can vary.
Which watch is more accurate at counting steps?
A single Tom’s Guide walk test recorded 10,984 steps on Venu 4 and 10,574 on Apple Watch Series 11 against a manual count of 10,792. The source said broader testing was needed, so this one test cannot determine which watch is generally more accurate.
Are the watches’ health features medical diagnoses?
No. Wellness and sleep metrics are not a diagnosis. Apple’s hypertension notifications have market and device requirements, and health features should not replace professional medical care.
