The phased rollout began June 10, 2025, and introduced watch-specific Google Home Favorites and supported transit-card taps with Google Wallet closed. The rollout is historical; whether a watch can install this build now depends on its current software status and availability.
What changed in the June 2025 Pixel Watch update?
Google Home Favorites can be specific to a watch
Google described “Surface Specific Favorites” as a way to set favorite home controls for an individual watch. This lets users tailor the controls shown on a particular Pixel Watch.
Supported transit cards can work with Wallet closed
With the update, supported municipal transit cards can be tapped for transit while Google Wallet is closed. The watch must be unlocked. At the time of the announcement, municipal transit-card support was automatically enabled and initially available on transit systems in Washington, D.C., Seattle, and Toronto.
| Payment type | Can Wallet stay closed? | Requirements and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Supported municipal transit card | Yes | The watch must be unlocked; initial support was documented for systems in Washington, D.C., Seattle, and Toronto. |
| Default credit or debit card | Yes, after opting in | Opt in through Wallet on Wear settings; the watch must be unlocked. |
Support depends on the transit system, card type, and location. The initial city list should not be taken as evidence that every transit system supports the feature.

Rollout, models, and build
| Model | June 2025 global build | Rollout notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel Watch | BW1A.250605.004 | Phased rollout; timing depended on carrier and device. |
| Pixel Watch 2 | BW1A.250605.004 | Phased rollout; timing depended on carrier and device. |
| Pixel Watch 3 | BW1A.250605.004 | Phased rollout; timing depended on carrier and device. |
Google said the rollout began June 10, 2025, and would continue in phases over the following weeks. Cellular devices in Japan and Singapore were excluded from the initial rollout and expected in the coming weeks. The Wallet feature was described as compatible with Wear OS 5 and Wear OS 5.1. This was not presented as a major operating-system-version upgrade; Wear OS 5.1 had already been announced for the watches in March 2025.
Security update and carrier notes
Google’s June Pixel Watch Security Bulletin says supported devices receive the 2025-06-05 patch level. It states that this level or later addresses the issues in the Pixel Watch bulletin and the June 2025 Android Security Bulletin. The Pixel Watch bulletin lists six Qualcomm and Qualcomm closed-source vulnerability entries, each rated Moderate; those entries are not a total count of all issues addressed across both bulletins.
Carrier documentation can differ in how it labels the same build. Verizon lists build BW1A.250605.004 with a May 2025 Android security patch level and also mentions new watch faces and stability and performance improvements. Treat those as Verizon’s carrier-facing notes, not as Google’s universal changelog. Google’s own bulletin is the source for its June 5 patch-level statement.

How to check for an update
- On the watch, open Settings.
- Tap System.
- Tap System updates.
- If an update is offered, follow the on-screen instructions.
Because the June 2025 rollout is historical and was phased, a watch that does not show this build now should be checked against its model, carrier, region, and current software status. A missing notification alone does not establish that a device was unsupported.
