A headline preserved in a Pinterest result says that 58 new old stock Breitling watches, described as the “Last of the Joseph Iten Collection,” were offered on eBay for $125,000. That establishes what the headline claimed—not that the watches sold, that $125,000 was paid, or what the lot contained. The original article and listing could not be verified from the available record.
What the $125,000 headline actually establishes
The surfaced headline gives five details: 58 watches, the description “new old stock” (NOS), an association with Joseph Iten, an eBay offering, and an asking figure of $125,000. The Pinterest result preserves the headline, but it is not a sale record or an itemized listing: Pinterest.
There is no verified listing or final transaction record here. Accordingly, $125,000 should be read as the amount stated in the headline, not as a confirmed sale price or realized value. The year of the headline’s publication is also not established.
What is—and is not—known about the collection
The headline names Joseph Iten as the collection’s source or owner, but the available material does not establish his biography or document how the watches passed from him to a seller. It also does not identify the seller or provide a chain-of-custody record.

A separate Omega Watch Forums post dated May 13, 2020 describes one 1969 Breitling Chrono-Matic Ref. 2114 as coming from the Joseph Iten collection. Its seller also repeats a story that Willy Breitling took approximately 3,000 watches from Breitling. These are claims from an individual forum seller, not independently authenticated evidence about the 58-watch lot or a verified historical statistic: Omega Watch Forums.
Why “new old stock” does not answer condition questions
NOS is the condition label used in the headline. By itself, it does not establish that a watch is unworn, factory sealed, unserviced, or accompanied by its original box and papers. The forum seller’s separate Ref. 2114 account, for example, describes minor handling marks and an unserviced movement despite calling that individual watch NOS. That account illustrates the limits of the label; it does not establish the condition of any watch in the 58-piece offering.

What a present-day eBay search can—and cannot—show
eBay has a general category for Breitling watches: Breitling watch listings. The existence of that category does not show that the historic 58-watch lot remains available, nor does it confirm that any watches from the collection appear there now.

- Breitling Avenger Chronograph Automatic Blue Dial Men's Watch A13317101C1X1
Because the original listing was not verified, the watches’ references, seller, listing dates, offer terms, and sale outcome remain unknown. The headline is not enough to compare the lot with current listings or to judge whether its asking figure reflected market value.

For a large vintage-watch offering, a headline and a NOS label are not substitutes for item-level evidence. A meaningful comparison requires documentation for each watch, especially when provenance and value are central to the claim.

- Identity: reference, serial details, movement, and clear photographs for every watch.
- Condition and service: evidence of wear, movement function, service history, and any replacement or refinished parts.
- Completeness: confirmation of boxes, papers, accessories, and what is included in the stated price.
- Provenance: records connecting each watch to the named collection rather than an unsupported attribution.
- Transaction terms: whether the figure is an asking price, accepted offer, or documented completed sale.
None of those lot-specific details is established by the available headline or the separate forum post. The available record supports reporting the offer claim, but not a conclusion about what the watches were worth or whether the collection changed hands.
