You do not need to buy a Rolex to get a capable dive watch—or to choose a watch with a similar look. These six alternatives span vintage-inspired, modern, and more accessible directions, but the available verified specifications are not equally complete for every model. Treat the Longines price below as a dated U.S. listing, and confirm exact references and current details before buying the other shortlist picks.
What the Submariner comparison means
The baseline here is the no-date Rolex Submariner reference 124060, not a date model. Rolex lists a 41 mm Oystersteel case, a unidirectional 60-minute ceramic bezel, 300 m water resistance, calibre 3230, approximately 70 hours of power reserve, and a Glidelock bracelet extension system on its product page. Rolex says, “The Submariner’s rotatable bezel is a key functionality of the watch.” Its 60-minute graduations are intended to help monitor dive time and decompression stops.
A similar appearance is only one reason to compare these watches. Consider case dimensions and how they fit your wrist, the movement and reserve, the bezel and dial design, bracelet adjustment, price in your market, and whether you want a recognizable Submariner-like style or a more individual look.
Six alternatives to consider
1. Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight: vintage-leaning style
The Black Bay Fifty-Eight is a natural candidate if you want a vintage-inspired diver with some visual and brand-family proximity to the Submariner. That resemblance does not make it an official equivalent, and the available information here does not establish a current exact reference, dimensions, movement, water resistance, or price. Check Tudor’s current listing for the specific version you are considering before comparing specifications.
#1 Best Overall
- Stainless Steel case with Black Resin Band
- Black Dial with date window at 3 O'clock
- Luminous markers and hour hands; sweep second hand
- Anti-reverse bezel
- Water-resistant to 200 M (660 feet)
2. Omega Seamaster Diver 300M: modern design and magnetic resistance
For a distinctly modern alternative, consider the black-dial steel reference 210.30.42.20.01.001. Omega lists a 42 mm case, 300 m water resistance, a 55-hour power reserve, and calibre 8800 with Master Chronometer certification. Omega’s calibre specifications state resistance to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. These are manufacturer specifications, not a claim that the watch is suitable for every dive. The exact-reference price was not established here; check Omega’s live listing in your market.
3. Longines HydroConquest: a lower listed price in the U.S.
The HydroConquest reference L3.782.4.56.6 is worth considering if you want a Swiss automatic diver with a ceramic bezel and a listed price below the high-luxury tier. Longines’ U.S. product page displayed $2,000 when accessed in 2026; this is a single retail listing, not a market-wide price or a guarantee of today’s price. The page lists a 43 mm case, 300 m water resistance, and up to 72 hours of power reserve. At 43 mm, it is larger in diameter than the 41 mm no-date Submariner baseline, so try it on if case size is a concern.

4. Oris Aquis Date: a distinct brand identity
The Aquis Date is a candidate if you want a dive watch that stands on its own rather than closely echoing the Submariner. Current Aquis versions vary, and an exact reference with verified dimensions, movement, water resistance, and price is not established here. Identify the precise model first, then compare its official specifications with the Rolex reference.
5. Seiko Prospex diver: a Japanese alternative category
Seiko Prospex includes diver-watch options that may suit a value-oriented search, but “Prospex diver” is a range, not one specification. No exact reference is established here, so do not assume a particular case size, water rating, movement, or price from the family name alone. Choose a model and check its official listing before comparing it with the Submariner.

6. Citizen Promaster diver: another range to narrow down
Citizen Promaster is also a broad category rather than a single direct substitute. It may be a useful direction if you are seeking a more accessible dive-watch option, but the exact reference and its current specifications are not established here. Confirm the model, movement, case dimensions, water rating, and price on Citizen’s official product information.

How to choose between them
Start with fit, not the brand name
Diameter is only one part of fit. Lug-to-lug length, thickness, bracelet articulation, and how the watch sits on your wrist all matter, but comparable figures for those details are not established for this shortlist. Try the exact reference on where possible, or check its full dimensions and return terms before ordering. The confirmed diameters—41 mm for the Rolex, 42 mm for the Omega, and 43 mm for the Longines—are useful starting points, not a complete fit verdict.
Decide how much visual similarity you want
The Tudor is the vintage-leaning choice; the Omega is the more modern-looking direction; and the Oris, Seiko, and Citizen suggestions are better treated as routes to a distinct model identity than as confirmed Submariner lookalikes. The Longines offers a ceramic-bezel diver with a larger stated diameter than the baseline. Evaluate the dial, bezel, hands, and bracelet on the exact variant, since a family name can cover different designs.

Compare the price of the exact watch in your market
Only the Longines U.S. listing provides a confirmed price in this comparison: $2,000 for reference L3.782.4.56.6 when accessed in 2026. No current Submariner price or exact-reference price for the Omega and the other shortlist directions is established here. Retail listings change, and prices from different regions or sellers are not directly comparable without checking taxes, availability, and the precise reference.
Water resistance is not a complete dive plan
The 300 m figures for the Rolex, Omega, and Longines are maker-rated specifications; matching numbers do not establish identical dive suitability. Follow the manufacturer’s operating and care guidance for the exact model, use the watch only within its stated limits, and rely on appropriate training and dive equipment. A rotating timing bezel is a watch function, not a substitute for dive planning or a dive computer where one is required.
