Zenith announced it at CHF 48,900, EUR 52,900, or USD 49,900; those are launch prices, not confirmed current prices.
What is the Zenith G.F.J. 160th Anniversary watch?
Zenith introduced the G.F.J. on April 1, 2025, for the brand’s 160th anniversary. The initials refer to Georges Favre-Jacot, Zenith’s founder. The anniversary model revives the Calibre 135, a movement associated with the company’s chronometry history, in a contemporary watch rather than reproducing a vintage piece. Zenith describes the present calibre as a modern re-engineering that retains the original’s general dimensions and architecture while incorporating contemporary solutions. Zenith’s launch announcement explains the brand’s framing of the revival.
The anniversary reference is 40.1865.0135/51.C200. It should not be confused with other G.F.J. editions: the collection includes materially and price-distinct entries, and the name alone does not identify the platinum-and-lapis 2025 model.
What movement is in the Zenith G.F.J.?
The watch uses Zenith’s manual-winding Calibre 135. The historic calibre and the modern movement are related, but they are not identical: Zenith calls the current version a re-engineering, not a reproduction. It preserves the movement’s broad architecture and brings back a design originally developed for observatory chronometry competitions.

These figures and performance claims are manufacturer specifications, not independent accuracy measurements or test results. Zenith says the original Calibre 135 was named for its dimensions—13 lignes, or 30 mm in diameter, and 5 mm thick—and designed specifically for observatory competitions. Its Heritage lead, Laurence Bodenmann, stated in Zenith’s 2025 press materials that the historic calibre achieved five consecutive first-place wins at the Neuchâtel Observatory from 1950 through 1954. That is a company-published historical claim.
Case, dial, and wearing details
The platinum 950 case measures 39.15 mm across, 10.5 mm thick, and 45.75 mm lug-to-lug. Zenith’s launch copy rounds the diameter to 39 mm. A stepped bezel, curved stepped lugs, and alternating brushed and polished surfaces give the case a 1950s-inspired profile. The glass-box sapphire crystal and stated 5 ATM water resistance complete the specification; the rating is a technical detail, not a reason to treat this dress watch as a purpose-built dive watch.

The dial combines several contrasting finishes and materials:
- A brick-pattern guilloché outer ring.
- Hand-applied white-gold beads marking the minutes and faceted white-gold hour indices.
- A natural lapis lazuli center with pyrite flecks.
- An oversized mother-of-pearl small-seconds register at six o’clock.
Because the lapis is natural stone, Zenith notes that the texture varies and each dial is unique. The launch set includes dark-blue alligator, black calfskin, and blue Saffiano calfskin straps, each paired with a platinum pin buckle. A seven-row platinum bracelet was offered as an optional item on request; it is not one of the three straps included in the set.

Zenith’s 2025 reference sheet listed these original prices for the 160-piece edition:

Is the Zenith G.F.J. still available?
Zenith said the 160-piece anniversary edition was available for pre-order through its physical and online boutiques and authorized retailers worldwide when it launched. Current stock of this precise reference is not confirmed by Zenith’s current G.F.J. collection page. That page shows multiple G.F.J. entries with different listed prices and some sold-out labels, but does not establish that those entries are the original anniversary reference.
