The A. Lange & Söhne TRIPLE SPLIT is a mechanical chronograph that can preserve intermediate readings for seconds, minutes and hours while its main timing hands keep running. Its three paired hand sets let it compare or add elapsed times over a span of up to twelve hours, according to the manufacturer. The current 2026 edition is reference 424.025F in 950 platinum, limited to 100 pieces.
How the TRIPLE SPLIT works
A standard split-seconds, or rattrapante, chronograph has paired seconds hands. One can be stopped to hold an intermediate reading while the other continues; a second press reunites them. The TRIPLE SPLIT extends that arrangement to three scales: seconds, minutes and hours.
When the watch is running, the blued rattrapante hands sit over their corresponding chronograph hands. The main chronograph records elapsed time, while each rattrapante hand can be stopped to preserve a reading at its scale. Pressing the rattrapante control again lets the stopped hand catch up. The manufacturer describes the system as enabling comparative measurements and the addition of durations across as much as twelve hours.
Controls and sequence
- Press the pusher at 2 o’clock to start the chronograph.
- Press the rattrapante pusher at 10 o’clock to stop the rattrapante hands at an intermediate reading while the chronograph hands continue.
- Press the rattrapante pusher again to reunite the paired hands.
- Use the pusher at 4 o’clock for the flyback function: it resets and immediately restarts an ongoing timing operation.
The manufacturer illustrates uses such as comparing competitors or tracking intermediate times, but the mechanism’s capability should not be confused with evidence that the watch is designed as a general-purpose sports timer.

How it differs from the Double Split
The key difference is the scale at which the rattrapante function operates. The Double Split compares paired seconds and minute readings; the TRIPLE SPLIT adds an hour pair. A. Lange & Söhne’s 2018 launch material described the Double Split’s comparative-measurement span as up to 30 minutes and the TRIPLE SPLIT’s as up to twelve hours.

The 2026 platinum TRIPLE SPLIT
The current featured edition is reference 424.025F, also identified by the manufacturer as LSLS4242AA. Announced on September 4, 2026, it has a 950-platinum case, a rhodié-coloured silver dial and darker grey subsidiary dials. The edition is limited to 100 pieces.

Price and where to inquire
The official US product page lists the platinum reference 424.025F as “Price upon request” and directs prospective buyers to contact a boutique. No numeric price is stated there. Availability may vary, so the manufacturer or a boutique is the appropriate source for current purchase information.
What the specifications do—and do not—tell you
The published dimensions, movement details and stated timing span describe an elaborate manual-wind chronograph, but do not by themselves establish comfort on the wrist, real-world timing accuracy, or comparative performance against other watches. The manufacturer’s Director of Product Development, Anthony de Haas, described the L132.1 as developed in-house and called the mechanism unusually elaborate; that is the company’s characterization, not an independent market comparison.
