A. Lange & Söhne introduced two very different watches in July 2023: the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar, which combines split-seconds timing with a perpetual calendar and moon phase, and the LANGE 1 TIME ZONE, which displays home time alongside a selected second time zone. The 1815 edition pairs a white-gold case with a pink-gold dial and is limited to 100 pieces; the new LANGE 1 TIME ZONE has a platinum case and rhodium-coloured silver dial. They share a release date, not a purpose.
What is new on the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar?
The 2023 configuration gives the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar an 18-carat white-gold case and an 18-carat pink-gold dial. A. Lange & Söhne limited this edition to 100 pieces. The model itself first appeared in 2013; its defining combination remains a split-seconds chronograph, perpetual calendar and moon-phase display. A. Lange & Söhne’s release also lists platinum with an argenté dial and pink gold with an argenté dial as other combinations.
How the split-seconds chronograph is used
The rattrapante mechanism lets the wearer record intermediate times or compare two elapsed times, and can also measure minimum and maximum values within a minute. Its hand-wound L101.1 calibre beats at six semi-oscillations per second; the manufacturer says this supports stopped-time readings to one sixth of a second.
The L101.1 contains 631 parts, including 211 components attributed to the perpetual-calendar mechanism and 206 to the rattrapante chronograph mechanism. Those figures describe components within mechanisms and should not be added to the total as though they were separate parts.

Calendar layout and correction intervals
The calendar places the date and weekday on the left subsidiary dial, and the month and leap-year indication on the right. The moon phase shares the subsidiary-seconds dial at six o’clock. According to the manufacturer, the calendar indications require a one-day correction on 1 March 2100, when the Gregorian calendar omits a leap year. The moon-phase display is specified to need a one-day correction after 122.6 years.
Case dimensions
The 1815 case measures 41.9 mm across and 14.7 mm high. The cited release does not give a power-reserve figure for its L101.1 movement.

How does the LANGE 1 TIME ZONE work?
The LANGE 1 TIME ZONE is designed to show home time and one selected second time zone at a glance. In its July 2023 configuration, the watch has a 950-platinum case and a rhodium-coloured dial made of solid silver. A. Lange & Söhne’s 13 July 2023 release describes the larger time circle as home time and the smaller circle as the selected zone time.
Selecting a second time zone
A peripheral ring carries 24 reference cities. Pressing the corrector at eight o’clock advances the city ring eastward by one zone and advances the hour hand on the small subsidiary dial by one hour. A marker shows the selected city and zone, and incorporates the daylight-saving indication.

Ring-shaped day/night displays accompany both time indications. A synchronisation mechanism lets the wearer transfer the selected zone time to the larger dial when establishing a new home time. The outsize date is linked to the main-time display.
Movement and dimensions
The watch uses manufacture calibre L141.1, with a stated power reserve of 72 hours from one mainspring barrel. Its case measures 41.9 mm in diameter and 10.9 mm high. The 2023 release also lists white gold with a black dial and pink gold with an argenté dial.

How do the two watches differ?
| Feature | 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar | LANGE 1 TIME ZONE |
|---|---|---|
| Primary purpose | Split-seconds elapsed-time measurement, perpetual calendar and moon phase | Home time plus one selected second time zone |
| Interaction | Chronograph timing and calendar indications | Select a city on the 24-city ring with the corrector at eight o’clock |
| 2023 case and dial | 18-carat white gold and 18-carat pink gold; limited to 100 pieces | 950 platinum and rhodium-coloured solid-silver dial |
| Movement | Hand-wound L101.1; 631 parts | L141.1; one mainspring barrel |
| Power reserve | Not stated in the cited 2023 release | 72 hours, according to the cited 2023 release |
| Case size | 41.9 mm diameter; 14.7 mm high | 41.9 mm diameter; 10.9 mm high |
These are not alternatives for the same task. The 1815 devotes substantial mechanical complexity to timing and calendar information; the LANGE 1 TIME ZONE prioritizes tracking a second location alongside home time. The thinner case of the latter is a measurable distinction, but neither dimension alone establishes how either watch will fit an individual wrist.
What is established about price and availability?
The official model releases and Richemont’s 2024 business review identify both watches as July 2023 introductions. Those sources do not establish current retail prices, inventory, or seller availability. A current buying decision therefore requires a dated, geographically specific check with A. Lange & Söhne or an authorized retailer; the launch specifications alone cannot confirm that either model is currently offered.
