The Christopher Ward The Twelve 38mm is the collection’s middle-size integrated-bracelet sports watch: compact on paper, slim by the manufacturer’s figures, and equipped with a self-winding Sellita movement. T3’s week-on-wrist review calls it a “Goldilocks” option. That is a reviewer’s fit judgment, not a guarantee that 38mm will suit every wrist; the measurements and specification below are Christopher Ward’s, not independent measurements.
What does 38mm mean for fit?
Christopher Ward lists the stainless-steel Twelve at 38mm in diameter, 43.30mm lug-to-lug and 9.95mm tall. Those dimensions make it a smaller, slimmer proposition than the original 40mm Twelve discussed in earlier coverage, but dimensions alone cannot tell you how a watch will feel on your wrist.
Integrated-bracelet watches also depend on how the case and first links sit, not just the diameter. If possible, try it on and check whether the bracelet drapes comfortably and the case stays centered. T3’s reviewer found the 38mm size the “Goldilocks” choice within the range; treat that as one wearer’s assessment rather than a universal fit verdict.
What is the steel 38mm model made of?
Christopher Ward specifies a stainless-steel case and marine-grade stainless-steel integrated bracelet with a butterfly clasp. The watch has an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, exhibition caseback, screw-down crown and date calendar. The brand lists 100m water resistance and Super-LumiNova Grade X1 BL C1 on the hands and indexes.

The bracelet is part of the case’s integrated design. Although the specification sheet lists a 23.30mm strap width, do not assume that means an ordinary 23.30mm replacement strap will fit: check Christopher Ward’s compatible options for the exact watch.
Movement and stated accuracy
The manufacturer specifies a self-winding Sellita SW200-1 calibre with 26 jewels, an anti-shock system, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), and a stated power reserve of 38 hours. Christopher Ward’s listed timing tolerance is -20/+20 seconds per day. These are manufacturer specifications, not results from a separate accuracy test.
A 38-hour reserve is worth considering if you rotate watches: after leaving it off the wrist for longer than its reserve, expect to reset the time and date. The spec sheet identifies the movement as self-winding and the watch has a screw-down crown; consult the manufacturer’s instructions for setting and winding rather than forcing the crown.

Bracelet or rubber strap?
T3’s reviewer recommends starting with the steel-bracelet configuration and adding a rubber strap if desired. That is a buying preference, not a technical requirement. The bracelet gives the watch its integrated-bracelet look; rubber offers a different feel and appearance. Check the currently compatible strap choices for this exact 38mm steel model before ordering.

Christopher Ward’s operating guide for The Twelve Ti describes quick-release pins for removing and refitting straps or bracelets. Because that guide concerns the titanium model, it does not by itself confirm the hardware on this steel 38mm configuration. Do not rely on it as model-specific fitting instructions unless the manufacturer confirms the same system applies.

It is a considered option if you want an integrated-bracelet sports watch with a comparatively compact listed footprint, a slim stated profile, 100m water resistance and a Swiss self-winding movement. Its appeal will depend on whether you like the case and dial design, how the bracelet fits your wrist, and whether the price makes sense for you. The published specifications establish what the watch offers on paper; they do not settle comfort or value for every buyer.

T3 names the Tissot PRX and Citizen Tsuyosa as more affordable alternatives, but a fair comparison requires exact current references. Their dimensions, movements, reserves, water resistance, bracelet fit and current prices are not established here, so there is no sound basis for ranking them quantitatively against this Twelve. T3’s view that neither matches the Twelve’s “wow factor” is a subjective review judgment.
