The Acer FreeSense Ring is a real smart ring, first unveiled at Computex 2025 and later offered through market-specific sales and crowdfunding channels. It has a titanium-alloy body, optical heart-rate sensing, blood oxygen tracking, sleep and activity monitoring, and AI-generated wellness insights. Acer currently markets it without a subscription.
However, this was not a clearly documented worldwide launch. Japanese crowdfunding and an Indonesian Acer Store listing confirm sales activity in those markets, while the sources reviewed do not confirm a US retail launch or US price. Also, Acer’s published information supports blood oxygen tracking, not a separately defined medical-grade “blood oxygen mapping” feature.

Launch timeline and availability
- May 16, 2025: Acer Gadget unveiled the ring at Computex 2025.
- May 19, 2025: Early reports positioned it as an upcoming Galaxy Ring and Oura competitor, but did not provide a final release date or price.
- September 24, 2025: Acer Japan announced crowdfunding through GREEN FUNDING and kibidango.
- From February 2026: Japanese backers were scheduled to receive products in stages.
- August 18, 2026: The evidence available confirms Japanese launch materials and an Indonesian Acer Store listing, but not a confirmed US Acer Store listing.
Availability is therefore market-dependent. Buyers outside Japan or Indonesia should check local stock, shipping, taxes, app-region restrictions, returns and warranty coverage before ordering. An overseas listing should not be treated as proof of a domestic launch.

Price by market
Acer Japan announced a planned regular price of ¥32,000, with one crowdfunding early-bird example priced at ¥27,200—a 15% discount. Acer’s Indonesian official store listed the ring at IDR 5,499,000 when crawled, although stock differed between the glossy black and rose gold listings.
The sources reviewed do not confirm an official US price. Early Computex reporting mentioned an approximate target range of $199–$249, but that was unofficial guidance rather than a confirmed US MSRP. Do not convert the Japanese or Indonesian price into a presumed American retail price.

The FreeSense Ring uses a titanium-alloy body finished with vacuum plating and a PVD surface coating. Acer lists glossy black and rose gold options, although finish descriptions vary slightly by market. The ring is approximately 2.6mm thick and 8mm wide.
Published specifications are not completely consistent. Acer Japan lists eight US sizes, #6 through #13, and weights of approximately 2.9–4.0g depending on size. Earlier Computex material lists seven sizes, #7 through #13, and a lighter 2–3g range. These differences may reflect regional versions, revised production specifications or inconsistent launch material. Confirm the specifications for the exact market and product listing you intend to buy.
Where a sizing kit is offered, use it before ordering. A smart ring needs consistent skin contact for its optical sensors, and an overly loose or tight fit can affect comfort and readings.
Health and fitness tracking
Acer identifies the following tracking features:
- Heart rate
- Heart-rate variability (HRV)
- Blood oxygen levels
- Sleep quality and sleep stages
- Stress-related metrics
- Activity and workout tracking
- Automatic workout detection
- Up to 24 activity modes
- AI-generated personal wellness insights
- Meditation programs
The underlying hardware listed in the manual is a PPG optical sensor and a three-axis accelerometer. That sensor combination can support consumer wellness measurements, but the specifications alone do not establish accuracy against a clinical reference device.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchBlood oxygen tracking is not medical diagnosis
Acer’s materials support the wording “blood oxygen levels” or oxygen saturation. They do not establish a distinct medical-grade “blood oxygen mapping” function. Blood oxygen readings should therefore be described as wellness data, not as a diagnosis of low oxygen, illness or respiratory problems.
Similarly, heart-rate, HRV and sleep estimates can be affected by fit, movement, exercise intensity, skin characteristics and sensor limitations. The sources reviewed do not provide independent validation of sleep stages, workout heart rate or blood oxygen performance.
Battery, charging and water resistance
Acer Japan claims up to four days of use and approximately one hour for a full charge. “Up to” is important: continuous sensing, workouts, temperature, battery age and software versions can all change real-world endurance. The manual lists a 3.7V, 15.5mAh battery.
The ring is rated IP68 and 5 ATM. These ratings are not interchangeable. IP68 concerns dust and water ingress under specified test conditions, while 5 ATM concerns pressure resistance equivalent to 50 metres under test conditions. Neither rating means the ring is suitable for every water activity, diving environment or prolonged exposure to water.

The user manual says the ring supports Android and iOS and uses Bluetooth 5.1. Acer Japan lists integration with Apple Health and Google Health Connect. That cross-platform approach could make it more appealing than a ring tied closely to one phone ecosystem, especially for iPhone owners.
Acer’s Japanese announcement says users can access recorded data, analysis and AI-generated personal advice without a subscription. Acer’s Indonesian store makes the same no-subscription promise. This is the FreeSense Ring’s clearest commercial differentiator, but it should be understood as the current product policy rather than a guarantee that cannot change. Check the applicable regional terms, app requirements and privacy policy before purchase.
The reviewed material does not establish whether every feature has identical functionality on iOS and Android, where health data is stored, whether AI analysis is cloud-based, how long data is retained or how third-party sharing and deletion work. Those are important questions for anyone buying a health-tracking wearable.

| Buying criterion | FreeSense Ring | Galaxy Ring |
|---|---|---|
| Phone support | Android and iOS are listed in the manual | Designed around Samsung’s Galaxy and Samsung Health ecosystem |
| Subscription | Acer currently advertises no subscription for full features | Check Samsung’s current regional terms and compatible-device requirements |
| Health platform | Apple Health and Google Health Connect integration listed by Acer Japan | Samsung Health, with deeper integration for compatible Samsung devices |
| Availability | Confirmed evidence is market-specific | Samsung has a more established mainstream retail presence in the US |
| Hardware | Titanium-alloy body; about 2.6mm thick and 8mm wide | Samsung markets a titanium ring with sleep and heart-rate features |
Galaxy Ring is the more natural choice for someone already invested in Samsung phones, Samsung Health and related Galaxy devices. The FreeSense Ring is more interesting for buyers who want iPhone support and no advertised recurring fee.
Neither ring should be declared more accurate from its feature list alone. The practical decision also depends on app quality, data export, comfort, battery consistency, warranty support and local availability. Samsung’s official Galaxy Ring page describes its current ecosystem positioning.
How it compares with Oura, RingConn and Ultrahuman
The alternatives appeal to different buyers:
- Oura Ring 4: Consider it if established sleep, recovery and readiness software is more important than avoiding a membership. Check the current hardware price and membership terms before buying at Oura’s official site.
- RingConn Gen 2: Consider it if long battery life and a subscription-free model are priorities. Verify current price, stock and warranty at RingConn.
- Ultrahuman Ring AIR: Consider it as another subscription-averse wellness-ring option, subject to current regional availability and pricing at Ultrahuman.
The FreeSense Ring’s potential advantages are its cross-platform support, no-subscription positioning, titanium-alloy design and broad wellness feature set. Its main uncertainties are local availability, independent accuracy evidence and Acer’s long-term track record for smart-ring software and support.
Who should buy the Acer FreeSense Ring?
Consider it if you can buy it through a supported regional channel, want a ring without an advertised subscription, use Android or iOS, and are comfortable treating its readings as general wellness information.
Wait or choose another ring if you need confirmed US retail stock, straightforward local returns and warranty service, independently tested accuracy, medical-grade measurements or a mature long-term smart-ring ecosystem.
Choose Galaxy Ring if Samsung Health and Galaxy-device integration are central to your routine. Choose Oura if software maturity for sleep and recovery outweighs membership costs. Consider RingConn or Ultrahuman if their current battery, pricing and availability better match your needs.
What the specifications do—and do not—prove
The FreeSense Ring is a genuine Acer product, not merely a Computex concept. But the existence of a product and a published feature list do not prove worldwide availability, clinical validity, superior accuracy or permanent subscription-free access. Before ordering, verify the local seller, exact size range, delivery terms, app compatibility, privacy controls, warranty and return policy.
For the latest market-specific information, start with Acer’s Japan announcement and official Indonesia listing, rather than relying on early launch reports.
