What Airain announced in February 2023
Fratello reported on February 22, 2023, that Airain was adding a black-dial Type 20 to its permanent collection and introducing the gray-dial Furtivité as a limited edition. Airain’s current Furtivité product page still identifies the edition as limited to 134 pieces.

The headline’s “pre-order” refers to the offer described in that 2023 coverage. Fratello reported launch prices of €2,650 for the black-dial model and €2,900 for Furtivité, with first deliveries expected in Q4 2023. Airain’s current Furtivité page has inconsistent strap descriptions: its specification section lists an anthracite suede strap, while a short description mentions midnight-blue leather. Confirm the supplied strap and exact variant with Airain rather than relying on a single color description. What changed in the re-edition
The 2023 report said both watches use sapphire crystals. It also described a move from the earlier Airain AM1, supplied by La Joux-Perret and based on the 7733, to the Manufacture AMT AM2: a manually wound, column-wheel chronograph with flyback. The stated reason for the change was preserving flyback functionality after La Joux-Perret stopped producing the 7733 and its then-current L100 base did not offer flyback.
Airain’s current Type 20 product page lists the AM2 calibre and a 63-hour power reserve. The page also specifies a 39.5 mm case, 50 m water resistance, double-domed sapphire crystal and cognac suede strap. It lists a two-year global warranty. Airain Type 20 product page
Current listed prices and availability
Airain’s official product pages currently list €3,450 for the Type 20 and €3,650 for Furtivité, rather than the 2023 launch prices. Why the Type 20 name matters
Fratello describes Airain as founded in 1934 by the Dodane family and as one of the selected suppliers of Type 20 watches to the French Army in the 1950s and 1960s. In that account, Type 20 refers to a French Ministry of Defense specification for pilot chronographs, which required a flyback function.
