The Airback NEXT is a hard-shell carry-on with a built-in compression system, but its advertised packing capacity and “carry-on approved” label do not guarantee that it will fit your airline’s allowance. Airback lists it at 55 × 40 × 23 cm and 4.6 kg; check those measurements against your specific carrier, route and fare before buying.
What comes with the Airback NEXT bundle?
Airback US calls the product “NEXT (Carry-On) – Bundle” and describes the suitcase as a zipperless, aluminum-frame case with built-in compression. The page presents a compression bag as an optional bundle addition, so the product name alone does not establish that a bag—or a pump—is included. Check the selected configuration and its contents at checkout.

What the compression claims do—and do not—tell you
Airback says the compression system can fit 25+ clothing items and 5–7 days of clothing, and claims packing up to 50% more. These are promotional claims, not results from an independent packing test. The listed 45–68 L range is likewise tied to compression; it should not be read as a verified measurement of usable interior volume.

Compression can reduce the space occupied by clothing, but it does not change the suitcase’s external dimensions or empty weight. Those measurements still matter for overhead-bin limits and weight allowances. If the optional compression bag matters to your packing plan, verify that it is included in the exact bundle you select.
Will it be accepted as a carry-on?
Airback calls the NEXT carry-on approved, but the listed measurements—55 × 40 × 23 cm—do not establish acceptance by every airline. Compare the case’s dimensions, including wheels and handles where the carrier’s rules require it, with the current allowance for your actual carrier, route and fare. The suitcase’s 4.6 kg empty weight also leaves less of any applicable weight allowance for packed items.

Airback’s product page surfaces the phrase “ryanair size bag,” but a search phrase is not proof that the NEXT meets a particular airline’s limits. No airline-specific compatibility is established here; check the airline’s own current baggage rules before travel.

At the time the US product page was reviewed, it displayed an aggregate rating of 4.6/5 from 48 reviews. Selected comments praised build quality and customer support; others described a seam splitting on a first trip, a compression bag losing vacuum, missing convenience features, or the suitcase feeling heavy. These individual storefront reviews do not establish a failure rate or independently verified durability.

A separate Airback NEXT page displayed a different rating and review count, so figures from different product pages should not be combined. One comment there reported that the reviewer’s suction pumps had failed; that is anecdotal, not evidence of a general reliability problem.
