Rolex’s 2024 Watches and Wonders releases updated five existing model families: GMT-Master II, Day-Date, Deepsea, Cosmograph Daytona and Sky-Dweller. The changes ranged from a grey-and-black ceramic bezel for the steel GMT-Master II to a yellow-gold Deepsea rated to 3,900 metres. Here is what changed, and how the watches differ by purpose.

What Rolex announced in 2024

Rolex dated its 2024 watch announcements to April 9, presenting updates across five established collections rather than launching a new family. The releases paired changes in materials and dials with familiar distinctions in function: travel time, calendar display, chronograph timing and deep-water capability. Rolex’s 2024 new-watches overview provides the release framing.

How the five 2024 Rolex releases compare

Model and role 2024 material and dial change Bracelet Defining function Case and water rating
GMT-Master II — travel time Oystersteel; grey-and-black Cerachrom bezel insert; black lacquer dial with green lettering Oyster or Jubilee Second time zone shown on a 24-hour hand; date 40 mm; 100 m
Day-Date — calendar and precious-metal variations Everose or white gold Day-Date 40 dials; yellow- or Everose-gold Day-Date 36 dials, including diamond-set options Not stated on the cited 2024 release page Day and date display 40 mm or 36 mm; 100 m
Deepsea — extreme-depth diver First Deepsea in 18 ct yellow gold; blue Cerachrom bezel, blue lacquer dial and blue ceramic Ringlock compression ring Not stated on the cited 2024 release page Date; Ringlock case architecture 44 mm; 3,900 m (12,800 ft)
Cosmograph Daytona — chronograph 18 ct white gold; contrasting white and black mother-of-pearl dial and counter combinations; diamond-set bezel Oysterflex or Oyster Chronograph 40 mm; 100 m
Sky-Dweller — travel time and annual calendar 18 ct Everose gold with slate dial or 18 ct yellow gold with intense white dial Jubilee Second time zone, date and annual calendar 42 mm; water rating not stated on the cited release page

Specifications and configurations in the table are from Rolex’s individual 2024 release pages: GMT-Master II, Day-Date, Deepsea, Cosmograph Daytona and Sky-Dweller. Water ratings are model-specific; the Deepsea’s depth rating does not apply to the other watches.

GMT-Master II: a grey-and-black bezel in steel

Rolex showed two Oystersteel GMT-Master II versions with a two-colour grey-and-black Cerachrom bezel insert, one fitted with an Oyster bracelet and one with a Jubilee bracelet. Both have a black lacquer dial, with green “GMT-Master II” lettering that echoes the green triangle-tipped 24-hour hand. The bezel’s recessed graduations are platinum-coated by PVD, according to Rolex.

Inside, calibre 3285 displays hours, minutes and seconds, the date, and an additional time zone in 24-hour format. The 40 mm case is rated waterproof to 100 metres. The GMT-Master II is the more direct travel-time choice in this release set: it provides a second time zone without the Sky-Dweller’s annual calendar. The event’s Rolex page at Watches and Wonders Geneva also corroborates the bezel and bracelet variants.

Day-Date: new dial treatments in 40 mm and 36 mm

The 2024 Day-Date updates focused on dial materials, colours and settings in two case sizes. Rolex presented the Day-Date 40 in Everose gold with a slate ombré dial, and in white gold with pearlized white mother-of-pearl and ten baguette-cut diamond hour markers.

For the Day-Date 36, new versions included yellow gold with a white lacquer dial and Everose gold with a blue-green dial and ten baguette-cut diamond markers. Rolex also showed a blue-green-dial version with a bezel set with 60 trapeze-cut diamonds. Both sizes use calibre 3255 and have cases rated waterproof to 100 metres. The release is principally about dial and precious-metal variation; it does not introduce a new Day-Date function.

Deepsea: the 2024 release’s technical outlier

Rolex presented the first Deepsea in 18 ct yellow gold. The 44 mm watch combines a blue Cerachrom bezel insert and blue lacquer dial with a blue ceramic Ringlock compression ring—the first use of ceramic for this component, according to Rolex. The Ringlock architecture and case are rated to 3,900 metres (12,800 feet).

Calibre 3235 displays the date, hours, minutes and seconds. The Deepsea is the release set’s clear extreme-depth diver, and its depth rating belongs to this model specifically. Rolex’s Deepsea release page also says the watch introduced the Ringlock system at its launch in 2008.

Cosmograph Daytona: white gold with contrasting mother-of-pearl

The two new 40 mm Cosmograph Daytona versions use 18 ct white gold, with opposing white and black mother-of-pearl combinations for the dial and counters. Each has eight diamonds and three Chromalight hour markers, plus a bezel set with 36 brilliant-cut diamonds. One pairs white mother-of-pearl with black counters on an Oysterflex bracelet; the other reverses the contrast and comes on an Oyster bracelet.

Both use calibre 4131 for the chronograph function and have a 100-metre water rating. Among the 2024 announcements, the Daytona is the chronograph option; the headline change is its contrasting dial treatment and diamond setting.

Sky-Dweller: gold versions on Jubilee bracelets

Rolex introduced two 42 mm Sky-Dweller versions in 18 ct gold on Jubilee bracelets: Everose gold with a slate dial and yellow gold with an intense white dial. Calibre 9002 provides a second time zone, date and annual calendar. Its Saros calendar distinguishes between months of 30 and 31 days, so the date needs correction only once a year, at the end of February.

The Sky-Dweller combines travel-time information with a calendar complication. Unlike the GMT-Master II, its defining addition is the annual calendar; Rolex’s cited 2024 release page does not state a water rating for these versions.

What the launch pages do—and do not—establish

Rolex’s launch pages document the announced configurations and specifications. They do not establish current retail stock, transaction prices, secondary-market premiums or whether a third-party seller is legitimate. Those details can change and require separate, current verification.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
