The Alpina Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic separates timekeeping across three displays: minutes on the central hand, hours at 10 o’clock, and seconds at 6 o’clock. Alpina lists an automatic AL-650 calibre based on the SW461, with a 38-hour power reserve. The title covers multiple configurations, so the reference matters: Alpina’s US listing for the grey-dial AL-650DGN4AE6 was $2,495 when checked on October 7, 2026, while the navy-dial bracelet version carries a different listed price.
What does a regulator watch display?
A regulator separates the main time indications instead of placing the hour, minute, and seconds hands together at the center. On the Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic, the central hand shows minutes, a subdial at 10 o’clock shows hours, and the display at 6 o’clock shows seconds. Alpina describes this layout on its UK product page and Canadian product page.
That arrangement makes the central hand the minute indicator, rather than an hour hand as on a conventional three-hand watch. The design is a distinctive way to read time; the manufacturer pages establish the display layout, not an independent assessment of legibility.
Movement and published specifications
Alpina identifies the automatic movement as calibre AL-650, based on the SW461. Its published specification includes a 38-hour power reserve, 28,800 alternations per hour, and 31 jewels. These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results. The data appears on Alpina’s UK page and Canadian page.

Which Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic reference?
Alpina’s listings show that the model name does not identify one fixed dial, bracelet or strap, or price. Compare the full reference number and regional product page before treating a specification as common to the range.
| Reference and market | Dial and attachment | Case dimensions and water resistance | Edition and listed price |
|---|---|---|---|
| AL-650DGN4AE6, United States | Grey dial with navy accents; navy rubber strap | 41 mm case length, 42.5 mm case dimension, 11.5 mm thick; 200 m water resistance | $2,495 on Alpina’s US listing, checked October 7, 2026; edition status not stated on that page |
| AL-650DGN4AE6, United Kingdom | Blue rubber strap; the page describes the related grey-dial model | 41 × 42.50 mm case; 12 mm high; 20 ATM water resistance | Limited to 888 pieces on this UK listing; price not stated here |
| AL-650NDG4AE6B, United States | Navy dial; stainless-steel bracelet | Not stated on the cited US listing | $2,795 on Alpina’s US listing, checked October 7, 2026; edition status not stated |
The US measurements, materials, and price for AL-650DGN4AE6 come from Alpina’s US listing. The UK case figures, 20 ATM rating, and 888-piece designation come from Alpina’s UK listing. Because the reported thickness differs—11.5 mm in the US listing and 12 mm in the UK listing—use the figure tied to the market page and reference you are checking rather than assuming a single universal measurement. Alpina’s listing prices can change and are not proof of a stable MSRP.

Water resistance, case and crystal
For the US grey-dial AL-650DGN4AE6, Alpina specifies a sapphire crystal, rubber strap, and 200 m water resistance. The UK listing for that named variant expresses the water-resistance figure as 20 ATM. These are manufacturer-published specifications; they do not by themselves establish suitability for a particular activity or substitute for checking the current product and care guidance.
How the Fratello collaboration differs
The Alpina x Fratello Extreme Regulator Automatic is a separate collaboration, not another dial option for the standard AL-650DGN4AE6. Alpina describes that model as a 99-piece edition with a 24-city world-time display, regulator layout, 41 mm steel case, and 200 m water resistance. Its details are on the collaboration product page; those edition and complication details should not be attributed to the regular Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic.

Is the Alpina Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic worth buying?
It may suit a buyer looking specifically for a regulator display and the particular case, dial, and strap or bracelet combination of a given reference. The published specification offers a clear basis for comparison, but Alpina’s product pages alone cannot establish how the watch wears, how accurately a particular example runs, or whether its price represents good value relative to alternatives.
