Who is Ming Thein?
Ming Thein is the founder associated with MING Watches and the subject of Time+Tide’s interview at Dubai Watch Week. The publication frames the conversation around the brand’s distinctive design, pricing and place among independent watchmakers. Its description of MING’s design language emphasizes flared lugs, texture and wearability; these are Time+Tide’s characterizations rather than a technical specification.
Thein has discussed design authorship in earlier interviews. In 2020, he said, “I personally designed every single watch we have produced.” That is a historical statement about the brand at the time, not confirmation of who designs every current model. Time+Tide identifies the Odyssey 37.11 as the latest of the three watches brought to the interview. The publication describes it as a titanium sports GMT dive watch with a 3-D printed Polymesh strap. The article is an interview feature, not a complete specification sheet, so it does not establish all details a buyer might want, such as dimensions, water resistance, movement, availability or current price.

Time+Tide reports that the strap withstands 100 kilograms of tensile force and that its development took three months from concept to prototype. Those figures are claims reported by the publication, not independently confirmed test results in the available account. They should be understood in that context rather than as a general guarantee of strap performance.
How has MING described its design and growth?
A separate 2025 interview with MING CEO Praneeth Rajsingh offers company-level context on design generations, retail and the brand’s philosophy. Rajsingh said, “Just because you have design language ‘5’ doesn’t mean ‘2’ is outdated. They’re just different flavours.” The point is that newer design directions need not make earlier ones obsolete.

Rajsingh also summarized the brand’s identity as “good design and solid watchmaking in the modern age,” and explained its retail direction: “We started online but never intended to remain solely online. Watches cannot be online-only.” These are his statements in a Delugs interview published June 23, 2025.
Delugs’ introduction to that 2025 interview reported 75 references across eight years, 15,000 watches shipped, 7,000 unique customers worldwide and two GPHG awards. These are figures reported by the publisher for 2025, not audited totals or current 2026 counts. In the same interview, Rajsingh discusses the 17.06 Copper and 37.09 Bluefin in connection with GPHG recognition, identifying the Copper with 2019 and the Bluefin with 2024; those award details are likewise attributable to the interview.
