What is the GW-B5600-2ER?
The GW-B5600-2ER is the regional SKU form named in this article’s title. Casio’s official product pages document the closely matching GW-B5600-2, a digital watch in the 5600 series, whose square design Casio says is inherited from the first G-SHOCK. Those pages do not show the “ER” suffix, so the suffix equivalence is not confirmed by the manufacturer documentation cited here. Check that a retailer listing identifies the exact suffix before buying.
The GW-B5600-2’s defining combination is straightforward: a familiar square digital case, dark inverted LCD, blue metallic dial detail, Tough Solar charging, Bluetooth mobile link and Multi-Band 6 radio time calibration. Casio describes the watch’s time correction as being conducted through Bluetooth communications in conjunction with standard-time radio waves. What gives it its look?
The watch keeps the compact, angular silhouette associated with the 5600 line, but the dark, inverted display and metallic blue accent make it less visually plain than a basic black square digital watch. Casio describes the blue detail as a vapor-deposited ring around the dial. The inverted LCD gives the face a darker appearance than a conventional positive display; whether its contrast suits you is a personal preference, and the available product documentation does not establish how easily it reads across different lighting conditions.

A high-brightness full-auto LED backlight is listed for viewing in low light. The design therefore balances a subdued face in ordinary conditions with illumination on demand, rather than relying on a bright, high-contrast screen all the time.
How do solar, Bluetooth and radio timekeeping work together?
Tough Solar
A solar panel charges the watch’s rechargeable secondary battery. Solar charging reduces dependence on routine battery replacement, but it still relies on exposure to light; it is not a guarantee that the watch will stay charged regardless of how it is stored or worn. Casio lists Tough Solar as a feature of the GW-B5600-2. Casio’s product listing identifies the charging system.

Bluetooth and the CASIO WATCHES app
When paired with a supported phone through CASIO WATCHES, the watch can receive automatic time adjustment, with Casio describing adjustments four times per day. The app also lists world-time configuration for approximately 300 cities plus user-added points, reminders, Time & Place, Home Time/World Time switching and Phone Finder. These are manufacturer-listed functions, not independent tests of reliability or app experience. Phone compatibility can change, so check Casio’s current supported-device information before relying on a particular handset.
Multi-Band 6
Radio time calibration is useful only where the watch can receive a supported standard-time signal. The operation guide describes geographically limited reception and identifies buildings, vehicles, electrical noise, geography, weather, season and time of day as factors that may affect reception. The feature set makes the most sense for someone who wants a square digital G-Shock with a distinctive blue detail and prefers reduced routine time-setting and battery-maintenance chores. It is less compelling if you strongly prefer a positive LCD, do not want phone-app dependence, or expect radio calibration to work everywhere. Its published weight is 53 g, while its listed case dimensions are 48.9 × 42.8 × 13.4 mm; those measurements help assess fit, but wrist comfort is individual.

- A good match: you like the classic square format, want solar charging, and value the option of app adjustment plus radio correction where available.
- Think twice: you want maximum display contrast without checking the inverted LCD in person, or your preferred phone is not supported.
- Before buying: confirm the retailer’s exact model suffix, check current phone compatibility, and consider whether Multi-Band 6 reception is useful where you live and spend time.
What to verify before ordering
Casio’s cited product pages identify the watch as GW-B5600-2, not GW-B5600-2ER. Treat the “-2ER” designation as the intended regional SKU in the title rather than as a suffix Casio’s documentation here independently verifies. Confirm the full model code in the retailer’s listing and on the product or packaging, and make sure the listing matches the dark inverted display and blue accent described for the GW-B5600-2.
