Published specifications describe a 78-hour power reserve, but they do not establish a tested accuracy advantage over other watches.
What does “Trans-Axial” mean on this watch?
The model is generally styled “Trans-Axial,” rather than “Transaxle.” The name describes the arrangement of its remontoir and tourbillon: their axes are aligned, with the remontoir beneath the tourbillon. Andreas Strehler’s official history dates the watch’s presentation to Baselworld 2018 and identifies both complications; the British Horological Institute’s technical explanation describes how the aligned components work together.
This is more than two complications placed close together. In this movement, the remontoir spring acts on a post attached to the tourbillon carriage. The spring therefore drives that carriage directly, rather than transferring its impulse through a conventional driving pinion.
How does the remontoir work, and how often does it rewind?
A remontoir d’égalité is a small spring in the gear train near the escapement. The mainspring train periodically rewinds it; between rewinds, the remontoir spring supplies energy to the escapement. The arrangement is intended to regularize the energy reaching the escapement as the mainspring unwinds.

- In the Trans-Axial, the spring acts on a post fixed to the tourbillon carriage, which sits above it on the aligned axis.
- The spring is rewound once every second. The resulting seconds display is a jumping, or dead-beat, seconds indication.
The British Horological Institute’s January 2019 technical article, written by Justin Koullapis HonMBHI, states: “In the case of this watch, the remontoir spring is re-wound every second.” A remontoir and tourbillon are not, by themselves, proof that a watch is uniquely accurate: the combination of constant-force mechanisms and tourbillons has precedent in other watches, as SJX noted in its 14 June 2018 technical review.
What are the published specifications?
The figures below are published model specifications, not results from an independent test. The movement diameter should not be mistaken for the watch’s case diameter.

What does the one-second remontoir tell you about accuracy?
It explains the intended energy-delivery strategy, not a measured rate. The remontoir periodically supplies energy to the escapement, while the tourbillon carries the regulating components. The technical sources explain this construction, but they do not provide a standardized comparative accuracy test, a daily-rate figure or a chronometer result for the watch. It would therefore be unwarranted to treat the mechanism as evidence that this model outperforms another watch in timekeeping.
How much did the Andreas Strehler Trans-Axial Tourbillon cost?
Europa Star and Monochrome Watches each reported a price of CHF 182,500 in their 2018-era coverage. That is a historical reported price, not a verified current retail price. The Watch Pages later listed a $223,350 guide price for a platinum variant, while a Tidemann Luxury Watches listing displayed a NOK price and was marked sold out; those secondary listings do not establish a current offer or live availability. No current maker price is established in the cited material.

Andreas Strehler’s general website says the maker assembles watches by hand, manufactures components in-house and designs components so an experienced watchmaker can rebuild them using traditional tools and materials. Those are general statements about the maker’s approach, not a guarantee of parts availability or a service arrangement for this reference.
