Its single pusher is integrated into the crown and operates a central seconds hand with a 60-second limit; a peripheral tachymeter replaces the elapsed-time subdials found on many conventional chronographs.
How the Instrument de Vitesse measures time and speed
Angelus calls the Instrument de Vitesse the second creation in its La Fabrique collection, describing it as a return to timed racing. Rather than separating chronograph information across small counters, the dial centers the timing display on one hand: press the crown-integrated pusher to start the central seconds hand, then read the elapsed interval on the dial. The chronograph measures up to one minute.
The outer tachymeter scale is for calculating average speed over a distance represented by the scale. On the Grey Silverstone model page, Angelus describes a base metric of 1,000—typically one kilometre—and graduations from 60 to 500 km/h. The inner minutes circle and peripheral speed scale give the dial its distinctive layout, but the chronograph’s timing range remains 60 seconds.
Instrument de Vitesse versions and specifications
Angelus’ collection page shows four versions: Blue Indianapolis, Grey Silverstone, Ivory White and Ebony Black. The official specification pages cited here document the Grey Silverstone and Ivory White references; their specifications should not be assumed to apply to the other two versions.
