But its low historical price does not guarantee a dependable smartwatch: a 2015 reviewer reported awkward notification software and a pedometer that did not work. Catalog pages showed prices near $35 in 2026, but neither confirms a watch is currently available to buy at that price.
What the GV18 is meant to do
The Aplus user guide describes the GV18 as a “Smart Watch Phone.” It is designed to pair with a phone for calls and notification mirroring, while also offering standalone and remote-control utilities. The guide is a feature description, not proof that every function works reliably on a particular watch or with a current phone.
- Calls and notifications: Pair it with a phone over Bluetooth to handle calls and mirror notifications. The guide describes Android synchronization software and an enabled notification service.
- Phone controls: The guide lists remote camera control and anti-loss functions.
- Activity tools: It lists a pedometer, sleep monitor and sedentary reminder.
- Music: The watch can play local music or connect to music on a paired phone over Bluetooth. This does not establish support for music-streaming services.
- NFC: The guide describes NFC functions associated with the strap.
These are basic functions rather than evidence of a modern app ecosystem, advanced health tracking or standalone internet services.
What historical reports say about everyday use
Notifications depended on software running
In his 2015 review, Rob Pomeroy described the synchronization app as limited and awkward to configure. He said it needed to stay running for notifications to arrive, and that delivery could stop if the app closed. That is one reviewer’s experience from 2015, not a current compatibility test; the available evidence does not establish how the GV18 behaves with today’s Android phones or other operating systems.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The pedometer has a specific warning
Pomeroy wrote, “It has a pedometer, but it just doesn’t work.” Treat that as an anecdotal report about the unit he reviewed, not a controlled test of every GV18. Still, it is a reason not to buy this model for dependable step tracking.
Reviews did not agree on its value
Pomeroy’s 2015 verdict was strongly negative about the watch’s usefulness despite its low price. A Spanish-language video review by Alejandro Pérez, published on 2015-04-19, described the price-to-performance ratio more favorably. Both are individual historical opinions; neither establishes present-day reliability or support.

Reported specifications—and what they do not prove
Pomeroy’s 2015 comparison table gives the following figures. They are historical reported specifications, not current manufacturer verification or independent measurements. In particular, the reviewer said the battery in his own unit was labeled 550mAh, although the table listed 450mAh.
| Item | Historical reported figure |
|---|---|
| Display | 1.54-inch capacitive screen; 240 × 240 pixels |
| Wireless connection | Bluetooth 3.0 |
| Processor and storage | 533MHz MTK6260A; 128M storage; microSD/TF support up to 32GB |
| Battery | 450mAh replaceable battery listed; the reviewed unit’s label reportedly said 550mAh |
| Talk time | 72 hours claimed in the comparison table; not a verified test result |
| Mobile network | GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 SIM support |
| Camera | 1.3MP |
| Other hardware | Accelerometer; NFC built into the strap; micro-USB charging; 12.3mm thickness; 50g weight |
| GPS | None reported |
The listed GSM/GPRS bands describe older 2G connectivity; they should not be read as evidence of compatibility with current mobile networks in your country. Network availability and carrier support vary by location, and the historical report does not verify that a GV18 will register with any particular carrier today.

Is there really a $35 GV18 available now?
The figure is supported as historical/catalog context, not as a confirmed current deal. E-Catalog, accessed 2026-09-28, listed the GV18 at $35.96 and marked it an “Outdated Product.” A Geekbuying product Q&A search result accessed on the same date displayed $35.79. Neither source confirms current stock, condition, seller reliability or that a working unit can be purchased at those prices.
If you find a listing, check that it is specifically the Aplus GV18, confirm whether it is new or used, and verify that the seller actually has it in stock. Do not treat an old catalog price or search result as a live offer.

Charging and initial setup
Charge before first use
The user guide says to charge the watch for at least two hours before first use. It describes USB charging and says an Android phone charging cable can be used. The reported connector is micro-USB, but confirm that the cable end fits your particular device rather than assuming every cable will.
Pairing and notification setup
- Charge the watch, then use its Bluetooth settings to pair it with your phone.
- For notification synchronization, follow the guide’s Android software and notification-service instructions. The guide does not establish compatibility with current Android versions or iPhones.
- Allow the synchronization app and its notification service to run as required. Pomeroy’s 2015 report indicates that notifications could stop if the app was no longer running.
- Test calls and the specific alerts you care about before relying on the watch. Historical descriptions do not guarantee present-day phone compatibility or notification delivery.
Who should consider the GV18?
The GV18 is best approached as an inexpensive older gadget, not as a dependable health tracker or a supported modern smartwatch. It may interest someone who already owns one and wants to explore its basic functions, or a buyer who understands that setup, network support and availability are uncertain. If reliable notifications, activity tracking, current phone compatibility or warranty-backed support matter, the evidence here is not enough to recommend buying one.
