Apple’s watchOS 26.2 update refined Sleep Score classifications and notification controls. It also fixed a Music app issue that could prevent the next song from playing and added Enhanced Safety Alerts in the United States. Sleep Score debuted in watchOS 26; 26.2 refined the existing feature rather than introducing it.
What changed in watchOS 26.2?
Apple’s watchOS 26.2 release notes list these changes:
- Sleep Score classifications and notification controls were refined. Apple’s release note does not specify revised numeric cutoffs.
- Enhanced Safety Alerts were added in the United States. Apple says they can inform users about imminent threats such as floods, natural disasters, and other emergencies, with information such as maps and links to safety guidance.
- A Music app issue was fixed. The issue could prevent the app from advancing to the next song.
Apple describes the Sleep Score change as a refinement to classifications and notification controls. It does not say that watchOS 26.2 introduced a new sensor system or changed the underlying sleep data.
Did watchOS 26.2 change Sleep Score categories?
Yes. Apple confirms that watchOS 26.2 refined Sleep Score classifications. Contemporary reporting by MacRumors said the labels and ranges changed and that “Very High” replaced “Excellent.” However, Apple’s cited release note does not provide the revised category boundaries, so specific numerical cutoffs should not be treated as Apple-verified from that note.
