Apple released the seventh developer betas of watchOS 26, tvOS 26 and visionOS 26 on August 18, 2025. These were pre-release builds in the late testing phase—not the final consumer versions—and have since been superseded by later releases.
Beta 7 build numbers
| Platform | Beta 7 build | Beta 6 build |
|---|---|---|
| watchOS 26 | 23R5346a | 23R5340a |
| tvOS 26 | 23J5346a | 23J5339a |
| visionOS 26 | 23M5328a | 23M5322b |
The changed build identifiers confirmed that Apple distributed new software rather than simply repackaging beta 6. The releases arrived roughly a week after beta 6 as Apple moved toward the expected September launch window. Developers can check Apple’s release archive and download portal for official availability and documentation.
What changed in watchOS 26 beta 7?
Beta 7 was primarily a stability and bug-fix milestone, but the most visible reported change involved Blood Oxygen data on certain Apple Watch models sold in the United States. The affected models were reported as:
- Apple Watch Series 9
- Apple Watch Series 10
- Apple Watch Ultra 2
The revised or reintroduced experience depended on the corresponding iOS 26 beta 7 and watchOS 26 beta 7 combination. It was not a universal watchOS feature: availability could vary by country, hardware model and regulatory conditions. Blood Oxygen data should not be treated as medical advice or as a replacement for clinical measurement. Apple’s watchOS 26 release notes remain the authority for documented issues and developer changes.

tvOS 26 beta 7: maintenance rather than a headline feature
Contemporary reporting did not identify a major consumer-facing feature exclusive to tvOS 26 beta 7. The build was best understood as a maintenance release focused on bug fixes, stability and final preparation for tvOS 26.
Features introduced earlier in the tvOS 26 beta cycle should not be described as beta 7 additions. Developers should consult the tvOS 26 release notes for platform-specific changes and known issues.
visionOS 26 beta 7: refinement for developers
No major beta-7-specific visionOS feature was reliably identified in the available reporting. Apple appeared to be concentrating on refinement and compatibility testing while the broader visionOS 26 feature set had already been introduced earlier in the cycle.

That distinction matters: features such as spatial widgets, Persona improvements and immersive experiences belong to the wider visionOS 26 release story, not necessarily to beta 7. The relevant technical details are documented in Apple’s visionOS 26 release notes.
Who could install the betas?
Apple made the builds available through its pre-release software channels, subject to supported hardware and account eligibility:
- Developer beta: available to members of the Apple Developer Program.
- Public beta: watchOS and tvOS also had public-beta routes at the time.
- visionOS: beta access was limited to developers in the contemporary reporting.
A developer beta is not the same as a final public operating-system release. An operating-system beta is also separate from the SDK and simulator components supplied through Xcode.

How developers installed them
Apple’s beta enrollment and menu labels can change, but the 2025-era process generally followed these paths:
- Enroll through the appropriate Apple Developer Program or Apple Beta Software Program.
- Sign in with the Apple Account associated with enrollment.
- Install the compatible developer tools if app testing is required.
- Open Settings → General → Software Update → Beta Updates on the relevant device.
For Apple Watch, the paired iPhone manages the update; the watch generally needs to be charged and placed on its charger. On Apple TV, the path was Settings → System → Software Updates → Get Beta Updates, where available. On Vision Pro, enrollment was followed through Settings → General → Software Update. Apple’s current beta guidance and developer download page should be checked for updated instructions.

Xcode 26 was the relevant development environment for the OS 26 SDKs. Xcode 26 beta included SDKs for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, tvOS 26, watchOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26 and visionOS 26. Xcode 26 beta 7 required a Mac running macOS Sequoia 15.5 or later, according to Apple’s beta release information. See the Xcode 26 release notes.

Apple’s App Store Connect notes also recorded that apps built with Xcode 26 beta 6 using the beta 7 SDKs could be uploaded for internal and external TestFlight testing. A noted issue affected TestFlight data loading on devices running macOS 26 beta, with TestFlight 3.9 identified as a workaround. Developers should verify the current App Store Connect release notes before relying on that behavior.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should you install beta 7?
Beta 7 made sense for developers validating app compatibility, notifications, complications, media playback, layouts, spatial experiences and TestFlight workflows on dedicated hardware. It was a poor choice for a primary Apple Watch used for health tracking, payments, travel, work or emergency communication.
Before installing, keep a production device available, back up associated data where supported, record the existing software version and confirm that essential banking, HomeKit, media and enterprise apps work with the beta. watchOS downgrades are particularly restrictive, so users should not assume they can easily return to a previous version.

Developers who encounter a problem should reproduce it on the exact build, compare it with the latest production software, review Apple’s release notes and submit a detailed report through Feedback Assistant with the build number, steps, logs and screenshots.
Current status
Beta 7 was released on August 18, 2025 and is no longer current. Later watchOS, tvOS and visionOS 26.x releases superseded these builds. Readers looking for software to install now should use Apple’s current release archive and device Software Update screen rather than treating this historical beta as the latest version.
