Bloomberg reporting most recently points to a late-2027 target and a possible introduction at WWDC 2027; the rumored first model is expected to be display-less camera-and-audio glasses connected to an iPhone, but those details remain unconfirmed.
For readers asking when Apple smart glasses might come out, how much they might cost, and what they could do, the key distinction is that current reports describe everyday AI glasses—not an Apple Vision Pro-style headset or full augmented-reality eyewear. No Apple price has been reported; the $200–$500 range cited in market coverage refers to U.S. competitors, not an estimate for Apple.
Apple Smart Glasses status: announced or still a rumor?
Apple Smart Glasses remain unannounced and unreleased in the sources reviewed as of October 7, 2026. Apple has not published an official product page, confirmed specifications, or offered a way to order them. “Apple Glasses” and “Apple Smart Glasses” are labels used in reporting and discussion, not confirmed product names.
The product details in this article come from reporting about Apple’s work and possible prototypes. They should be read as rumors or reported plans, not confirmed Apple specifications. Apple may change or abandon designs before any product is announced.

When could Apple Smart Glasses be released?
The latest report reviewed, dated September 22, 2026, says Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple is targeting late 2027, with a possible introduction at WWDC 2027. Apple has not confirmed either timing, and earlier reported targets have shifted.
Keep the timeline in perspective:
- Reported target: late 2027.
- Possible introduction: WWDC 2027, according to reporting.
- Official confirmation: none in the sources reviewed.
- Earlier targets: previous reporting described earlier schedules, including shipping by early 2027; these are superseded by the later reported target.
WWDC timing might allow developer preparation, but that is analysis in the reporting, not confirmation that Apple will offer developer tools or an app platform for the glasses.
What Apple is reportedly building
Reports describe a first product closer to camera-and-audio smart glasses than immersive AR eyewear. The reported concept combines cameras, speakers, microphones, Siri or other AI interactions, and connectivity with an iPhone and Apple’s ecosystem. These are not confirmed launch features.
Possible uses described in reporting include taking photos or video, listening to music, making calls, hearing notifications announced by Siri, and asking AI questions about things the wearer sees. Walking directions have also been mentioned as a possible function. Apple has not confirmed any of these capabilities.

It helps to separate two possible product categories:
- Camera-and-audio smart glasses: ordinary-looking eyewear with cameras, speakers, microphones, and voice or AI interaction. This is what current reporting describes for the nearer-term Apple product.
- Augmented-reality glasses: eyewear with displays and digital overlays integrated with the real world. This remains a separate, more ambitious possibility for the future, not a confirmed first-generation feature.
Patents and research into optical technologies do not establish that Apple will ship a display-equipped product. A later AR device is possible, but its design and timing remain unknown.

Camera privacy is an unresolved product question. A July 2026 report described Apple executives debating options that include a device without cameras and a full camera system that would not be allowed to record photos or video, using visual input for AI tasks such as identifying objects and places. The report also describes privacy features being prototyped. These are reported options, not a final policy.
As 9to5Mac reproduces Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman’s report: “Another option that Apple executives have debated: including the full camera system but not allowing it to record photos or video at all. In this scenario, the cameras would be exclusively for seeing the world around the user and feeding that data into AI tools, such as ones that identify objects and places.” This describes a proposal under consideration, not an official Apple announcement.
Until Apple announces a product, key questions remain open: whether recording will be possible, how visual input will be indicated, what data will be stored, and how processing will be divided among the glasses, an iPhone, and other services.

Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses are a useful current category comparison because reporting describes them as offering photography, audio, calling, and AI functions without screens. What is known about Apple’s price?
Apple has not announced a price, and the sources reviewed do not report a specific Apple price. Do not treat the U.S. $200–$500 range mentioned for competitors as a forecast for Apple’s product.
Battery life, weight, standalone operation, prescription compatibility, frame sizing, country availability, recording policy, and developer tools also remain unknown. Apple has not established whether prescription lenses or different frame and lens configurations will be offered.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.What can you buy today?
You cannot buy Apple Smart Glasses today. If you want smart glasses now, compare available products such as Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses; treat them as alternatives, not Apple products.
Before buying, check:
- whether the glasses have a display and cameras;
- how recording is controlled and indicated to people nearby;
- phone compatibility and required apps;
- audio, calling, and AI functions actually supported;
- fit, frame choices, and prescription-lens support;
- how images, audio, and AI requests are handled;
- current price, availability, and return policy.
Should you wait for Apple Smart Glasses?
Waiting may make sense if you specifically want an Apple-connected wearable and do not need smart glasses now. The late-2027 target and possible WWDC introduction are reported plans, not commitments, and the schedule could change.
If you need glasses with camera, audio, or AI features today, compare products already on sale using their confirmed specifications. Do not buy another Apple device on the assumption that it will later become or work like Apple Smart Glasses.
