Apple Watch SE 3 and Apple Watch Series 11 share core features including an Always-On display, sleep tracking, sleep score, and sleep apnea notifications. Apple lists Series 11 with a brighter display, ECG, and hypertension notifications; the right choice depends on whether those additions, case fit, and your local price are worth the difference.
SE 3 comes in 40 mm and 44 mm sizes, while Series 11 comes in 42 mm and 46 mm sizes. Compare current offers for the same size and GPS or GPS + Cellular configuration before deciding: the available research establishes Apple’s SE 3 launch price, not current prices for both watches.

What does Series 11 add?
Apple’s comparison lists ECG and hypertension notifications for Series 11, but not SE 3. Series 11 also has a higher listed peak display brightness: up to 2,000 nits, compared with up to 1,000 nits for SE 3. Both have an Always-On display and Apple lists sleep tracking, sleep score, and sleep apnea notifications for both.
These are Apple’s published feature and display specifications, not results from an independent head-to-head test. Whether the brighter screen matters will depend on where and how you use the watch. Likewise, ECG or hypertension notifications are reasons to consider Series 11 only if the feature is available where you live and you meet Apple’s requirements.

Price: compare current configurations
Apple announced a U.S. starting price of $249 for SE 3 at its September 9, 2025 launch. That is a dated launch price, not a live quote. The research available for this article does not establish current prices for both models across markets, so check current local listings rather than treating an old launch price or an unverified price gap as today’s comparison.
For a fair comparison, match the case size as closely as possible and compare GPS with GPS or GPS + Cellular with GPS + Cellular. Cellular service and product availability depend on the market and carrier. Bands and configuration can also affect the price.

Choose by features and fit
Consider SE 3 if
- You want an Always-On display and the sleep features Apple lists for both watches.
- You do not need ECG or hypertension notifications.
- One of its 40 mm or 44 mm case sizes is the more comfortable fit.
- Its current local price makes it the better value for the features you will use.
Consider Series 11 if
- You value its higher listed peak brightness or wide-angle OLED display.
- You want ECG or hypertension notifications and meet Apple’s requirements in a region where the features are available.
- One of its 42 mm or 46 mm case sizes fits you better.
- Its current local price is worthwhile for those specific additions.
Case size and band fit
Apple lists SE 3 wrist-fit ranges of 130–200 mm for the 40 mm case and 140–245 mm for the 44 mm case. Try to judge fit by your wrist and the exact band, not just the case-size number. Check Apple’s compatibility guidance or the band’s product listing before buying a replacement band; case sizes differ between the two models.
Battery and health-feature caveats
Apple’s SE 3 specifications estimate up to 18 hours of normal use and up to 32 hours in Low Power Mode. These are manufacturer estimates, not independent measurements or proof of how the watch will perform for you. Battery life varies with use and configuration; the research used here does not establish a comparable Series 11 battery result.

Apple describes health and wellness features as subject to eligibility and availability, and says they are not a substitute for clinician care. ECG is intended for people 22 years old or older. Apple says hypertension notifications are not intended for people under 22, people previously diagnosed with hypertension, or pregnant people. Sleep apnea notifications are intended to detect signs of moderate to severe sleep apnea in people 18 or older who have not been diagnosed.
