Apple Watch Series 11 was released on September 19, 2025. Apple announced it on September 9, 2025, opened preorders that day, and now sells it as a current-generation Apple Watch. In the U.S., the range starts at $399 for the 42mm aluminum GPS model. The 46mm GPS model starts at $429, GPS + Cellular starts at $499, and titanium configurations start at $699.
The main reasons to consider Series 11 are its sleep score, hypertension notifications, watchOS 26 features such as Workout Buddy, a longer rated battery profile, and a more scratch-resistant Ion-X glass option on aluminum models. The buying decision is otherwise straightforward: choose 42mm or 46mm, aluminum or titanium, and GPS or GPS + Cellular.

Apple Watch Series 11 price
These are the most defensible U.S. starting prices from Apple:
| Configuration | U.S. starting price |
|---|---|
| 42mm aluminum, GPS | $399 |
| 46mm aluminum, GPS | $429 |
| 42mm aluminum, GPS + Cellular | $499 |
| Titanium configurations | From $699 |
The final price depends on the case size, case material, connectivity, and selected band. A retailer’s live price may also differ from Apple’s starting price because of discounts, stock, bundles, or the specific band and finish included.
GPS + Cellular models cost more initially and generally require an eligible wireless plan for cellular service. Carrier support and eligibility vary by market, so check with your carrier before paying extra for cellular capability.

What is new in Apple Watch Series 11?
Sleep score
Series 11 can show a sleep score from 0 to 100 after you wake. Apple describes it as an estimate based on three factors:
- Sleep duration: up to 50 points
- Bedtime consistency: up to 30 points
- Sleep interruptions: up to 20 points
The Sleep app provides a classification and a breakdown, rather than just a single number. The score can help you notice patterns in your schedule, but it is a wellness estimate—not a medical diagnosis and not a measure of sleep quality in every clinical sense.
Overnight tracking also makes charging habits more important. Series 11 is rated for up to 24 hours of normal use, including sleep tracking, under Apple’s stated test conditions. If you want to wear it overnight regularly, charging during a morning routine or another consistent period is more practical than waiting until the battery is nearly empty.
Hypertension notifications
Series 11 can analyze heart data for patterns associated with possible hypertension. If the system detects a pattern, it can notify you to discuss the result with a healthcare provider and prompt you to take readings with a third-party blood-pressure cuff over a seven-day period.

This feature does not mean the watch measures blood pressure directly. Apple says the watch is not a medical device, and the feature does not replace diagnosis, treatment, or ongoing monitoring. It is also not intended for people under 22, people who have already been diagnosed with hypertension, or pregnant people. Availability varies by country and region.
Anyone who receives a notification should treat it as a reason to seek appropriate medical advice—not as confirmation of hypertension and not as a reason to change medication without a clinician.
Workout Buddy and watchOS 26
Apple Watch Series 11 runs watchOS 26, which introduces Workout Buddy. It provides personalized spoken encouragement using workout data and fitness history. Depending on the workout and supported setup, it can use information such as heart rate, pace, distance, Activity rings, and personal milestones.
Recommended Free Tools
Workout Buddy is not simply a hardware sensor feature. Its availability can depend on the workout type, language, compatible headphones, an Apple Intelligence-supported iPhone nearby, and regional support. Apple also makes clear that watchOS 26 features are not automatically exclusive to Series 11; some are software features available on other compatible Apple Watch models.
Other watchOS 26 changes include:
- A redesigned Workout experience and additional workout views
- Custom workouts
- Pacer and Race Route tools
- Music and podcast suggestions for workouts
- The wrist-flick gesture
- Smart Stack improvements
- A refreshed visual design

Case sizes and weight
The 46mm case measures 46mm high, 39mm wide, and 9.7mm deep. The 42mm case measures 42mm high, 36mm wide, and 9.7mm deep.
For the aluminum GPS models, the 46mm version weighs 37.8 grams before the band, while the 42mm version weighs 30.3 grams. The difference is noticeable if you prioritize a lighter watch for sleep or exercise. The 46mm model offers a larger display and a larger case footprint, which may be easier to read but less comfortable on a small wrist.
Materials, finishes, and glass
Aluminum models are available in rose gold, silver, space gray, and jet black. Titanium models come in gold, natural, and slate.

Aluminum versions use Ion-X glass. Apple says the Series 11 Ion-X glass has a ceramic coating that provides twice the scratch resistance of Series 10 Ion-X glass. Titanium configurations use the premium case material and the sapphire-crystal display configuration documented by Apple.

Series 11 is rated IP6X dust resistant and includes a depth gauge to six meters plus water-temperature sensing. Those specifications do not mean the watch is suitable for every water activity or dive profile. Follow Apple’s water-use guidance and avoid treating the depth gauge as certification for activities the manufacturer does not specifically support.
Sensors and health features
Apple lists the following sensors and health-related hardware:
- Electrical heart sensor
- Third-generation optical heart sensor
- Blood-oxygen sensor
- Temperature sensor
- Compass
- Always-on altimeter
- High-g accelerometer
- Gyroscope
- Ambient-light sensor
- Depth gauge
- Water-temperature sensor
Depending on region and feature eligibility, Series 11 supports ECG, heart-rate notifications, irregular-rhythm notifications, sleep stages, sleep-apnea notifications, cycle tracking, medications, mindfulness, and the Blood Oxygen app. Several of these functions are intended for wellness or screening and should not be interpreted as a diagnosis.
Battery life and charging
Apple rates Series 11 for:
- Up to 24 hours of normal use, including sleep tracking
- Up to 38 hours in Low Power Mode under a separate test profile
These are Apple estimates, not independent test results or a guarantee of real-world endurance. Actual battery life varies with the configuration, cellular use, signal strength, software, workouts, notifications, and other settings.
Low Power Mode can extend the rated endurance, but some functions may operate differently or update less frequently. If sleep tracking is a priority, the practical advantage of Series 11 is not that it never needs charging; it is that the rated battery profile gives you more flexibility to fit charging around overnight wear.
Apple includes a magnetic fast charger to USB-C cable in the box. A spare Apple Watch magnetic fast charger can be useful if you charge in more than one location, such as beside the bed and at a desk. Confirm the connector and compatibility before buying a replacement, and do not assume an unverified third-party charger has Apple certification.
Which Apple Watch Series 11 should you buy?
42mm versus 46mm
- Choose 42mm if lower weight, a smaller case, or a less noticeable watch during sleep is the priority. The aluminum GPS version is also the lowest-priced entry point.
- Choose 46mm if you prefer a larger display, larger text, and a larger case footprint. It starts at $30 more than the 42mm aluminum GPS model.
Try to choose based on wrist comfort rather than price alone. A watch used for sleep tracking must be comfortable overnight, while a watch used mostly for notifications may benefit more from the larger display.
Aluminum versus titanium
- Aluminum is the value choice and starts at $399 for 42mm GPS. It uses Ion-X glass with the Series 11 ceramic coating.
- Titanium starts at $699 and is aimed at buyers who want the premium case material and sapphire-crystal display configuration.
Paying more for titanium does not turn the health features into medical equipment, and it does not make every watchOS 26 feature exclusive to that model. The premium is primarily about materials, finish, and display-glass configuration.
GPS versus GPS + Cellular
- GPS is the sensible choice if you normally carry your iPhone for calls, messages, music, and connected activities.
- GPS + Cellular is worth considering if you want more independent connectivity when leaving your iPhone behind and are willing to add an eligible carrier plan.
Cellular service is not free simply because the watch contains cellular hardware. Check carrier compatibility, plan pricing, and regional support before choosing this version.

Compatibility requirements
Apple Watch Series 11 requires an iPhone 11 or later, including iPhone SE (second generation) or later, running iOS 26 or later.
GPS + Cellular functionality additionally requires a supported carrier and an eligible wireless plan. Health, hypertension, Workout Buddy, and other features can have separate regional, language, age, device, or account requirements. If you are buying the watch for one particular feature, verify that feature’s availability in your country before ordering.

Accessories worth considering
The watch includes a band and a magnetic fast charging cable, so neither needs to be purchased immediately. Two accessories can nevertheless make sense:
A second charging cable
A spare Apple Watch charging cable is practical for people who track sleep and charge in multiple places. Keep one at the bedside and another at a desk or in a travel bag. Match the accessory to the Apple Watch charging system and USB-C power setup you use.
A replacement or additional band
Replacement bands are useful for exercise, formal wear, or a better overnight fit. Check whether the band is intended for the 42mm or 46mm size before ordering. The watch already includes a band, and the right choice also depends on wrist circumference and how tightly you need to wear the watch for comfortable sensor contact.
Apple Fitness+
Apple Fitness+ is an optional Apple service that can complement Apple Watch workouts. It is a subscription ecosystem feature, not a Series 11 hardware capability, and its availability and pricing depend on the market. Do not assume that buying Series 11 includes an ongoing Fitness+ subscription.

The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Apple Watch Series 11 is a current Apple Watch rather than a future release. Buy the 42mm aluminum GPS model for the lowest-cost, lightest entry point; choose 46mm for the larger display, titanium for premium materials, and GPS + Cellular only if independent connectivity justifies an additional carrier plan. Its most meaningful additions are sleep score, hypertension-pattern notifications, Workout Buddy, and the improved rated battery profile—but health features remain wellness or screening tools, not medical diagnoses.
