Aquastar dates its first Model 60 dive watch to 1957. The current Model 60 Re-Edition MKII keeps the original’s 37 mm cushion-case design, according to the brand, while updating the specification to a Sellita SW200-1 Elaboré movement and a claimed 200 m water resistance. Aquastar’s current range also includes Greenwich and Steel Blue versions; their precise configurations and availability should be checked on the live listings.
What the 1957 Aquastar Model 60 established
Aquastar describes the Model 60 as its first dive watch and says it shipped in 1957. Its account of the original specifies a 37 mm cushion case and a unidirectional bezel marked for 60 minutes of elapsed time. The company’s history page attributes 100 m water resistance to that 1957 watch. These are Aquastar’s historical claims, not independently verified findings. The modern MKII should not be confused with the original’s published rating: Aquastar lists the current re-edition at 200 m, rather than the 100 m it attributes to the 1957 model. That is a difference between brand-published specifications, not an independent test comparison.
What changes on the current Re-Edition MKII
Aquastar presents the MKII as a modern rebuild that follows the original case geometry. Its current Model 60 listing gives the watch a 37 mm case, a Sellita SW200-1 Elaboré automatic movement, and 200 m water resistance. The Steel Blue product page also specifies 200 m/20 ATM and a screw-down crown. These specifications are from Aquastar; no independent testing of the current watch is established here. Those core figures do not settle every practical fit or operation question. A May 2023 Aquastar PDF for an earlier Model 60 re-edition describes a La Joux-Perret movement, a bidirectional bezel, 47 mm lug-to-lug length, 11 mm case height, and optional seatbelt NATO, Tropic, or BOR bracelet. It is a different published configuration from the current MKII descriptions, so those details should not be carried over as current specifications. Current Model 60 variants
Aquastar’s collection currently presents the base Re-Edition MKII alongside Greenwich and Steel Blue MKII variants. The collection page uses “limited 100” language for Greenwich and Steel Blue; treat that as the brand’s listing language, and check the live pages for current stock and exact variant details. A variant name alone is not enough to infer its movement, dimensions, bezel behavior, or included bracelet.

What to verify before choosing one
- Exact variant: confirm whether the listing is for the base MKII, Greenwich, or Steel Blue version.
- Fit: seek current lug-to-lug and case-height figures for the specific variant; the dimensions in Aquastar’s 2023 PDF describe an earlier configuration.
- Bezel: verify the current variant’s bezel operation rather than assuming the older PDF’s bidirectional description applies.
- Strap or bracelet: check what is included and which alternatives Aquastar confirms as compatible. The earlier PDF’s NATO, Tropic, and BOR options are not proof of current compatibility.
- Commercial details: recheck price, stock, and any limited-edition wording on the live product page.
