Armand Nicolet’s O.H.M. series pairs modern watches with historical mechanical movements that the brand says it has retained, restored and adapted in its atelier. O.H.M. stands for Original Historical Movement: the movement is old; the finished watch is a modern creation built around it. The distinction matters because “brought back to life” describes the company’s restoration story, not a claim that every component is untouched or that every model receives the same upgrade.
What does O.H.M. mean?
O.H.M. is short for Original Historical Movement. Armand Nicolet presents the series as limited-edition watches using mechanical movements from its historical stock. The company says production is constrained by how many original movements remain available, rather than by an arbitrary number alone. Its O.H.M. page names historical movement families including Unitas, Venus, ETA, Peseux and FHF. Armand Nicolet’s O.H.M. overview
The phrase “original movement” should not be read as “unchanged movement.” The brand describes selecting and restoring old components, with technical or decorative changes possible before assembly into a contemporary case. The movement’s historical origin and the watch’s present-day construction are two different parts of the story.
How does Armand Nicolet say it restores the movements?
The brand describes a workshop process that begins with component selection and ends with a function check. It says watchmakers check, label and confirm the required parts are present, measure the movement precisely, and enter measurements into a 3D program to reproduce it in detail. They then decide whether decorative or technical changes are appropriate, tune and decorate the parts, assemble the movement by hand, and check its function. Armand Nicolet gives the possible addition of an Incabloc shock-protection system as an example; it does not say that every O.H.M. caliber receives that change. Armand Nicolet traces its story to around 1875 in Tramelan, in Switzerland’s Bernese Jura. Its own history says the workshop specialized in T1 work from the 1930s through the 1970s—decorating, assembling and finely adjusting movement parts—and that Willy Nicolet kept the atelier open during the late-1970s quartz crisis. The company says later management chose to restore and develop its old movement stock and workshop knowledge. These are the manufacturer’s historical claims, not independently audited findings. What do the watches show about the O.H.M. idea?
LB6: a 1956 FHF movement in a modern 43 mm watch
The current LB6 collection page identifies its calibre AN0731B as derived from an FHF 264 made in 1956 and modified in 2017. It is manually wound and displays hours, minutes and small seconds. Armand Nicolet lists 17 jewels, 36 hours of power reserve and a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour. The watch has a 43 mm stainless-steel case, 10 mm thick, sapphire crystals on both sides, a calf-leather strap and water resistance rated to 10 ATM/100 m. Those figures are the manufacturer’s published specifications, not independent test results. Official LB6 collection page

- Stylish Classic Dial Design: This analog watch features a refined dial with full Arabic numerals, delivering a elegant fashion look. The leather strap is soft, durable, and comfortable for daily wear. A clean date window calendar display adds everyday practicality. This wrist watch suits men's wrist watches and women's wrist watches, ideal for business, casual wear, or classic gift occasions.
- Mechanical Hand-Wound Movement: Powered by a classic manual mechanical movement, this wrist watch operates without batteries. Mechanical watches have limited power reserve, so daily or pre-use winding is essential to reduce time deviation and prevent stopping. If not properly wound, the watch may stop easily. Regular winding ensures stable performance and accuracy.
- Care Instructions for Long-Lasting Use: Please remove all protective films before wearing. Handle the watch gently and avoid vigorous activities. Keep away from strong magnetic fields, electronics, and sudden impacts. Avoid sauna use and environments with drastic temperature changes, as moisture may enter the case, leading to movement rust or damage over time.
- Daily Waterproof: This analog watch is daily waterproof, suitable for light splashes, rain, or accidental water drops. Not suitable for showering, swimming, or diving. Prolonged water exposure or use in extreme hot or cold environments may shorten the lifespan of the mechanical movement and affect accuracy.
- Ideal Gift for Any Occasion & Anyone: With its elegant retro style, this wrist watch suits any occasion and outfit. A thoughtful choice for gifts for men, gifts for women, birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, wedding gifts, or retirement gifts. Perfect as a gift for dad, mom, husband, boyfriend, sister, or yourself.
There is an unresolved discrepancy in the published edition size: the collection page says 255 pieces, while the product listing for reference A134AAA-AG-PK2140TM says 220 pieces in total. The official pages do not explain whether they count different variants or whether one figure is an error, so neither number should be treated as definitive without clarification from the brand. That product listing displayed CHF 4,900 and limited availability/pre-order when accessed in 2026; price and availability can change. LB6 collection page LB6 product listing
L16: another FHF 264, with a stated 299-piece edition
The L16 page identifies calibre AN0731S as an FHF 264 from 1953, modified in 2017. It is manual-winding, with hours, minutes and small seconds, 17 jewels, a stated 36-hour reserve and a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour. The listed case is 43 mm in diameter and 10.5 mm thick, with sapphire crystals and 10 ATM/100 m water resistance. The official page states an edition of 299 pieces. When accessed, the collection page showed no products to display, a status that may change and should not be taken as a permanent statement of availability. Official L16 page

L06: a different movement origin and edition breakdown
On its O.H.M. history page, Armand Nicolet describes the L06’s AN501 as derived from a UT-176 made in 1951 and restored in 2006. The company lists manual winding, small seconds and up to 34 hours of reserve. It gives separate quantities for versions with 18 jewels (300) and 17 jewels (125). This example illustrates the variety of movement references and configurations within the series; it is not evidence that an L06 is currently available. O.H.M. history and L06 details
How should you assess an O.H.M. watch?
The most useful questions are about the specific reference, not just the O.H.M. label. Check the movement’s original caliber and date, what the brand says it changed, the functions and winding type, the case dimensions, the stated edition and the actual current price and availability. A historical movement can be appealing for its provenance and mechanical character, but its age alone does not establish accuracy, service condition, investment value or superiority to a newly made movement.
- Verify the reference: model pages and product listings can differ in details, as the LB6 edition figures demonstrate.
- Ask about service: the brand describes restoration and a final functional check, but the pages cited here do not establish a universal warranty, service interval or long-term performance result for every caliber.
- Confirm stock and price directly: listings and availability are time-sensitive. Use the official product page or contact an authorized retailer through the brand’s locator. Official site and distributor locator
- Check strap fit by reference: an official accessory listing describes a 22 mm black vegan-leather strap as suitable for LB6 and L16. That is one accessory option, not proof that all watches ship with that material or color; verify the exact reference and fitted strap before ordering. Official 22 mm strap listing
What the launch coverage can—and cannot—establish
The O.H.M. concept received watch-industry coverage around Baselworld 2017. WatchPro reported the announcement and attributed to an Armand Nicolet spokesperson the statement that its watchmakers “manually restore, tune and re-assemble” the pieces. Fratello’s March 20, 2017 article about the series is explicitly marked Partner Content, so it is useful for launch context rather than independent product testing. Neither source establishes current inventory or the performance of an individual watch. WatchPro’s 2017 report Fratello’s 2017 Partner Content article
