The Armani Exchange AX Connected is a discontinued touchscreen Wear OS watch that can still appeal to buyers who prize its dress-watch styling. Its old processor, short battery life and uncertain compatibility with current phones make it a risky everyday smartwatch in 2026. Consider one only at a low used price, with the correct charger, a healthy battery and successful pairing demonstrated before purchase.
What is the Armani Exchange AX Connected?
The AX Connected is a round, full-color touchscreen smartwatch from the Fossil Group era of fashion-brand Wear OS watches. It combined a stainless-steel watch design with notifications, activity tracking and Google services. Its historical U.S. list price was $295, according to Digital Trends’ review; that is not a current valuation.
The name can be confusing. The touchscreen AX Connected is commonly associated with AXT2000-series references. Armani Exchange also sold hybrid Connected watches, including Drexler models commonly associated with AXT1000-series references. Hybrids have physical hands and do not offer the same full Wear OS touchscreen experience. Check the rear case and model number, and confirm that the watch has a color screen before relying on specifications in a listing. Marketplace records illustrate the inconsistent naming: AXT2002 and another AXT2002 record.
Its appeal is primarily appearance. Contemporary reviewers found the experience similar to other Fossil-family Wear OS watches, with Armani-specific additions largely limited to watch faces and the Saved Looks app (Digital Trends).

AX Connected specifications
| Feature | Reported specification | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Google Wear OS | The exact final version depends on the individual watch. |
| Processor | Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 | An old platform by 2026 standards. |
| Storage | 4GB | Reported by Digital Trends. |
| Display | 1.2-inch, 390 × 390 OLED/AMOLED | Reviews use OLED and AMOLED terminology inconsistently. |
| Sensors and wireless | Built-in GPS, heart-rate sensor and NFC | Contemporary coverage reported Google Pay support; current payment service compatibility is not established. |
| Controls | Touchscreen, rotating crown and two side buttons | Button customization was limited. |
| Charging | Proprietary magnetic cradle | Do not assume a standard Qi charging pad will work. |
Specifications are drawn from contemporary coverage by Digital Trends and Wareable. Case-size claims vary across listings, so verify the reference rather than assuming one size applies to every model.
Design, comfort and display
The watch has a conventional fashion-watch look, with a metal case and finish options that make it less obviously a gadget than many sport watches. The rotating crown makes scrolling easier than using the touchscreen alone. Reviewers found it comfortable for ordinary daily wear, though a metal bracelet can feel heavy during sleep or exercise.
The glass is relatively exposed because the display lacks a raised protective bezel. Wareable also criticized outdoor visibility, and Digital Trends reported bracelet squeaking after extended wear. These are practical drawbacks on a used watch, where scratches and wear may already be present (Wareable; Digital Trends).

Software and smart features
In its original software environment, the AX Connected handled phone notifications, music controls, Google Fit activity tracking and Google Assistant through the watch microphone. Some notifications offered interactive replies. Contemporary reviewers also noted duplicate notifications and occasional sluggishness, pauses or instability on the Snapdragon Wear 2100 platform.

Those reports describe the watch when it was reviewed, not a guarantee that every service still works now. App installation, payment, notifications and account setup depend on the watch’s firmware, the phone and the services available to that user. Historical NFC and Google Pay support does not establish that contactless payments will work in 2026.
Fitness tracking: suitable for casual activity, not serious training
Built-in GPS and a heart-rate sensor can support casual walks, runs, step counting and basic activity records if the watch and phone software still cooperate. Wareable found GPS acquisition slow, particularly in a new area, and described heart-rate tracking as adequate for ordinary workouts but less capable than a chest strap.

- Expect basic consumer wellness data, not medical measurements.
- Do not expect the training, recovery or sensor ecosystem of a modern sports watch.
- GPS sessions can further strain an already limited battery.
Battery life and charging
Battery life was a significant weakness even when the watch was new. Wareable reported roughly one to two days in lighter use, while Digital Trends found that heavier use—including always-on behavior, heart-rate tracking and a 40-minute GPS walk—could drain it in less than a day. Digital Trends also reported that a full charge took more than an hour with the supplied cradle. These are historical review results, not a promise for a used unit.
By 2026, battery age is a central buying risk. A watch that reaches a full-charge indicator but drains rapidly may have a worn battery rather than a software fault; repair costs may outweigh the value of the watch. Ask the seller to demonstrate charging and battery behavior, and confirm that the proprietary cradle is included.
Phone compatibility in 2026
At launch, the AX Connected was reported to pair with Android and iOS, though iPhone users had fewer features and Digital Trends advised them to choose an Apple Watch instead. That historical compatibility does not prove that a particular AX Connected will pair with a current phone or retain useful services. The watch runs an obsolete Wear OS generation, and current results can depend on the phone model, operating-system version, region and watch firmware.

Google Wear OS community threads document connection problems, including an iPhone 12 pairing report and a separate thread about keeping a watch connected (iPhone 12 pairing thread; connection thread). These reports show that problems have occurred; they do not establish that every unit or phone will fail.
Before buying, test the exact watch with the phone you plan to use. Do not treat a seller’s generic “Android and iPhone compatible” wording as proof.
Water resistance: use caution
Water-resistance claims conflict. Wareable reported an IP67 rating and cautioned against taking the watch into water, while some marketplace records list 5 ATM or 50 meters (Wareable; eBay AXT2002 record; eBay AXT2001 record). Listing specifications can be copied or assigned to a different reference, and seals can deteriorate with age. Treat a used AX Connected as splash-resistant at most unless manufacturer documentation for that exact model confirms otherwise.

Used-buying checklist
Buy only if the styling matters to you, the price is low, and you are comfortable with daily charging and limited legacy features. If a seller will not let you test the watch or accept a return, the risk is higher.
- Verify the model: Check the rear case, box and model number. Make sure it is the touchscreen AX Connected, not a Drexler or another hybrid.
- Inspect the condition: Look for screen cracks, impact damage, signs of water ingress, a swollen battery or unusual heat while charging.
- Confirm the charger: Ask for the original proprietary magnetic cradle and watch it charge the device.
- Power it on: Confirm it reaches the home screen rather than remaining stuck on a logo. Test the touchscreen, crown and both buttons.
- Reset and pair: Have the seller factory-reset it, remove it from their phone and demonstrate pairing with your own phone before payment.
- Test the basics: Check heart-rate readings, GPS acquisition, notifications and charging. Do not pay extra for promised payment support unless you can verify it yourself.
- Check the terms: Prefer a seller who permits returns if pairing, charging or another advertised function fails.
If pairing fails
- Factory-reset the watch, remove it from the phone’s Bluetooth settings, then restart both devices.
- Try pairing through the currently supported Wear OS companion app from the phone’s official app store, rather than beginning in Bluetooth settings alone.
- Check that the watch is no longer linked to the previous owner’s phone and that requested Bluetooth, location or notification permissions are enabled.
- If iPhone pairing fails, try a compatible Android phone if available. If the companion app no longer recognizes the watch, the cause may be platform support rather than a hardware fault.
Setup screens and supported app requirements can change, so a specific current menu path or minimum phone version cannot be stated reliably for every buyer.
What is a used AX Connected worth?
The $295 U.S. figure is historical MSRP, not a 2026 price guide. A marketplace record showed an item around $132.83 when indexed, but its condition and availability can change; it is not a stable valuation (Digital Trends; eBay product record).
Judge a specific unit by its battery, working cradle, verified model, successful pairing, cosmetic condition and return protection—not by its original retail price. A cosmetically pristine watch with a failing battery or no charger can be a worse purchase than a marked-up unit that works and can be returned.
Should you buy it or choose a current watch?
The AX Connected is a niche choice for someone who specifically wants its Armani Exchange styling and accepts the compromises of old hardware. For most buyers, a currently supported watch is the safer choice because the AX Connected’s main risks—battery aging, software obsolescence and uncertain phone pairing—remain even when the case looks good.
