Its gold-toned centre is not a solid-gold case: it is a brass movement mainplate coated in gold and hand-finished with tremblage, an irregular texture that shifts with the light. The case itself is stainless steel.
This is a specification-led look at the Aurum, not a claim of independent hands-on testing. The watchmaker’s current listing shows $36,000 and out of stock; a Fratello article published 15 January 2026 reports CHF 27,000. Those are figures from different sources and market contexts, not directly comparable prices.
What makes the Aurum distinctive?
The Aurum is a more openworked and skeletonised development of Armin Strom’s Tribute 1. Its visual centre is the exposed movement architecture, especially the gold-coated brass mainplate. Armin Strom says the plate is finished by hand using tremblage, an engraving technique that gives its surface an irregular, light-catching texture.
The grey fumé off-centre dial sits against that textured gold field, making the composition read as layered rather than as a conventional dial over a hidden movement. The contrast is deliberate: gold-toned movement surface, grey dial, and a steel exterior.

Finishing details
The maker specifies a skeletonised motor barrel with hand-polished, bevelled spokes, plus a black-polished and bevelled steel finger bridge. It also lists Geneva stripes and circular graining on the reverse, along with a hand-polished 60-degree bevel. Armin Strom says each watch is assembled twice.

The 38 mm diameter and Fratello-reported 44.35 mm lug-to-lug measurement offer a useful sense of the case’s footprint. The maker lists a 9.38 mm height. Water resistance is 5 ATM; that specification should not be read as a promise of suitability for every water activity.

The supplied strap is taupe Epsom leather with matching stitching, secured by a steel pin buckle. The specified 18 mm connection is a starting point if considering another strap; the published information does not establish that every nominally 18 mm strap will fit the watch’s attachment geometry.
Movement and power reserve
The in-house AMW21 is a manually wound calibre. Armin Strom rates it for a 100-hour power reserve and a frequency of 25,200 vibrations per hour, or 3.5 Hz. The maker also specifies a variable-inertia balance wheel and flat spring.

Armin Strom describes the movement’s motor-barrel arrangement as transmitting energy from the barrel arbor to the gear train, a layout it says improves efficiency while conserving space. Fratello additionally reports 21 jewels and 137 components; those counts are attributed to that publication rather than the current official specification listing.

The Aurum is limited to 10 pieces, according to Armin Strom. Its official product page currently displays a price of $36,000 and marks the watch out of stock, directing US customers to contact the sales team. Fratello’s article dated 15 January 2026 reports CHF 27,000 and a five-year warranty. The prices are stated in different currencies and source contexts, so they should not be treated as equivalent or converted into a single current market price.
