For $79.99, Atari gives you four built-in games, retro watch faces, Atari sound effects, basic activity tracking, and a rotating crown designed to feel like a paddle controller. The catch is that it has no Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, notifications, GPS, phone app, or cloud-synced fitness history.
That makes it more appealing as an Atari collectible or offline novelty wearable than as an alternative to an Apple Watch, Fitbit, or modern Android smartwatch.

What you get for $79.99
Atari lists the 2600 My Play Watch at $79.99. The package includes the watch, two interchangeable reversible bands, a magnetic charging cable, four built-in games, Atari-themed watch faces, sound effects, and basic fitness features.
The current bands combine wood-grain and Centipede artwork with Atari tri-stripe and Super Breakout artwork. Launch coverage mentioned a possible third Missile Command band for early orders, but Atari’s current listing describes two bands, so buyers should not assume a third is included.

- Built from Mega Man 2 Authentic sprites, stages, bosses, and music rebuilt for your wrist
- Multiple Game Modes Classic Mode with full stage progression + Dr. Wily’s Castle, Arcade Mode for endless, high-score gameplay plus Play Time animated watch faces
- One-Touch Action Gameplay Auto-run platforming with rapid tap shooting and tap-and-hold jumping
- Quick Play Sessions Stages designed for fast gameplay (typically under 1 minute per run)
- Save Progress + High Scores Continue your Classic Mode run or compete for your best Arcade score
The watch uses a 2.02-inch TFT touchscreen, a metal bezel, MyPlayWatch OS, a side button, and a rotating crown. It is also listed as IP68-rated, with Atari describing water resistance beyond one meter. That is useful protection, but it should not be treated as an unrestricted swimming, diving, showering, or high-pressure-water guarantee.

The four built-in Atari games
- Centipede
- Missile Command
- Pong
- Super Breakout
These are included game programs adapted for the watch’s small touchscreen and physical controls. The watch is not an expandable Atari 2600 console: Atari does not list cartridge support, downloadable games, or an app store, and there is no indication that additional titles can be installed.
The rotating crown is the most distinctive part of the control system. Atari says it operates like a paddle controller, which is especially relevant to Pong and Super Breakout. To open the games, swipe left from the home screen or use the side button. Supported games have adjustable sensitivity under App List → Settings → Game Options; the user guide lists level 3 as the default.

To leave, select and confirm the quit command. The exact experience will be more limited than playing on a television with a full-size joystick, paddle, or trackball, but the physical crown gives the watch more character than a touchscreen-only novelty device.

The catch: it is offline by design
The biggest limitation is also the product’s defining idea. My Play Watch’s platform is intentionally disconnected:

- RETRO-INSPIRED DESIGN – Inspired by the legendary Atari 2600, with a metal bezel face, a custom red crown modeled after the classic joystick, and a button styled like the paddle controller.
- VIBRANT FULL-COLOR DISPLAY – A 2.02" TFT touchscreen with bright, crisp visuals, creates sharp gameplay graphics and visuals of everyday use.
- ATARI-THEMED interface that makes activity tracking more fun and engaging.
| Feature | Atari 2600 My Play Watch |
|---|---|
| Phone notifications | No |
| Bluetooth | No |
| Wi-Fi | No |

| Fitness tracking | Basic activity features |
| Built-in games | Four fixed titles |
| Third-party apps | None listed |
That means no message alerts, calls, GPS routes, music controls, synced workout history, cloud backup, or connected app ecosystem. Fitness information stays on the watch rather than moving into Apple Health, Google Fit, Fitbit, or another phone service.
This can be a benefit if you want a distraction-free watch that does not demand an account or constantly surface notifications. It is a serious drawback if you expect the word “smartwatch” to mean phone integration and continuing software support.

The platform’s lack of updates may help the watch remain simple, but it also means buyers should not expect new games, feature additions, security updates, or bug fixes comparable to those offered by mainstream connected watches. My Play Watch’s platform description explains the offline approach.
Fitness tracking is basic
The watch provides basic activity information, including step counting, heart-rate monitoring, and calorie estimates. There are no listed GPS workouts, advanced training modes, detailed exercise analysis, or medical validation.
Consider these features a convenience rather than a reason to buy the watch for health tracking. Anyone who needs reliable workout analysis, route recording, long-term data history, or broader health features should choose a dedicated fitness tracker or conventional smartwatch instead.

- ICONIC ARCADE GAMING ON YOUR WRIST – Play Tetris on a compact touchscreen, optimized for seamless gameplay. Relive the classic puzzle game anywhere, anytime.
- SELECTIVE TECH – NO DISTRACTIONS – A non-connected smartwatch with no notifications, no tracking, just pure gameplay and fitness.
- RETRO-INSPIRED DESIGN – Features custom crown that honors the visuals of Tetris with thoughtful details, deep Tetris themed software.
- VIBRANT FULL-COLOR DISPLAY – 1.91” TFT touchscreen for sharp, colorful visuals, perfect for gaming and everyday use.
- FITNESS MEETS NOSTALGIA – Track heart rate, steps, and calories with a Tetris-themed fitness interface.

The United States Atari product page does not specify battery capacity or a battery-life estimate. A Japanese My Play Watch site lists a 230mAh battery, approximately four days of average operation, and two-to-three-hour charging, but that should be treated as a regional claim rather than a confirmed U.S. specification.
The official guide says a low-battery watch may take two to three hours to fully charge. Connect the USB end of the magnetic cable to a USB power source or adapter, then place the magnetic connector on the rear charging contacts in the correct orientation. The cable’s orientation matters, and the power adapter is sold separately according to the guide.
If the watch stops responding, hold the crown for five seconds to reboot it.
Availability is not completely clear
Atari’s individual product page lists the watch at $79.99 and says it ships in two to three days. However, Atari’s My Play Watch collection page labels the same model “Sold out.” That could reflect regional inventory, cached merchandising information, or a catalog error.
Check the actual product page and checkout status before paying. Do not treat either page as definitive until the order can be placed with a delivery estimate.

Who should buy it?

Who should skip it?
- Buyers who need notifications, calls, GPS, music controls, or phone integration

Alternatives by buying goal
If you want a different My Play Watch collectible, the Centipede 45th Anniversary My Play Watch is listed at the same $79.99 price and focuses on three versions of Centipede: Arcade, Atari 2600, and Remix. It is the better choice for dedicated Centipede fans, while the Atari 2600 model offers more variety across four titles.
If gameplay matters more than wearing the device, the Atari Gamestation Go is a dedicated handheld with more than 200 built-in games, a 7-inch display, integrated paddle and trackball controls, HDMI, Wi-Fi updates, and approximately four to five hours of playtime. Atari lists it at $179.99, making it more expensive but substantially more capable for gaming.
The Super Pocket Atari Edition, listed at $59.99, is another lower-cost option for buyers who want portable Atari gaming rather than a wearable. For television-based play and support for Atari 2600 and 7800 cartridges, consider the Atari 2600+.
For notifications, GPS, health tracking, and phone synchronization, skip the My Play Watch and buy a conventional smartwatch or fitness tracker.
Warranty considerations
Atari publishes a general one-year limited warranty for Atari-branded products, subject to eligibility, proof of purchase, exclusions, and country-specific service limitations. The published terms limit or exclude issues such as accidental damage, liquid contact, normal wear, and battery deterioration unless caused by a defect. Confirm that your specific purchase and sales channel are covered before ordering; Atari’s warranty page contains the applicable conditions.
Verdict
The Atari 2600 My Play Watch makes sense when you view it as a $79.99 Atari collectible that happens to tell time, track basic activity, and play four games. Its offline design is appealing for simple, distraction-free fun, and the rotating crown makes the concept more distinctive than a themed watch face alone.
It does not make sense as a cheap replacement for a modern smartwatch or as a substitute for a dedicated retro-gaming handheld. The fixed game library, lack of phone connectivity, uncertain U.S. battery specification, separate power adapter, and conflicting stock information are important limitations. Buy it for the Atari personality—not for “smart” features.
