This is a buyer-focused review of the current V3 based on its published specifications and earlier-generation reviews—not a hands-on test of V3.

At the time the US page was checked, the first 300 pieces were allocated. Orders placed afterward were assigned to the next production allocation, with delivery starting from December 2026. The US page says US orders ship DDP with a 6% surcharge; orders elsewhere ship DDU, so buyers should account for any applicable destination import taxes and duties. What makes the Perception’s dial distinctive?
The V3 dial is hand-turned écailles de poisson guilloché: a fish-scale pattern cut into the dial surface on a rose engine. Atelier Wen describes the dial as a four-part construction drawing on sǔn mǎo, the Chinese mortise-and-tenon tradition. The brand lists three colorways: green Yún with micro-frosted surfaces and mirror-polished chamfers, plus ice-blue Piāo and salmon Xiá with brushed and polished finishes.
Independent coverage of the earlier Perception helps explain the appeal, but it is not a current V3 inspection. In a 2022 Fratello review, Dave Sergeant reported that dial maker Cheng Yucai’s workshop spent about eight hours producing one dial. That is the reviewer’s report about the earlier-generation watch, not a newly verified V3 production-time figure. Zen Love, writing for Gear Patrol in 2022 in an article later republished by Atelier Wen, praised the dial’s light play and wrote, “A real guilloché dial at this price is unheard-of.”
That craft is the Perception’s clearest point of difference. The price also buys an integrated steel sports-watch design, detailed case finishing, and a specified automatic movement; it is not a simple comparison with watches priced only by their movement or brand name. No specific rival has been evaluated here, so a head-to-head value claim would be premature.
Case dimensions, finishing and water resistance
Atelier Wen lists V3 at 40mm in diameter, 47mm lug-to-lug, and 10.4mm thick including the crystal. The case is 904L stainless steel, and listed water resistance is 100m/10 ATM. Those dimensions give a useful starting point for judging proportions, but wrist fit depends on wrist shape and personal preference; the figures alone cannot establish how it will wear on you.

- Executed in a versatile 40mm footprint, the sophisticated design of the watch makes a strong impression via a silver-tone stainless steel case and a seamlessly integrated, matching bracelet. Underneath an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the sporty timepiece makes use of a sunray yellow dial, with a 3 o’clock date window and contrasting silver-tone details adding to its classic aesthetic.
- Powered by an automatic movement and offering up to 50 meters of water resistance.
- The refined timepiece is a daily wearing choice ready for work, play, and everything in between.
- Caliber E011.
Do not use the 9.4mm thickness cited in Zen Love’s 2022 Gear Patrol review as a V3 specification. That figure applies to the earlier Perception discussed there; Atelier Wen lists the V3 at 10.4mm including crystal. The older review also praised the sapphire crystal, legibility, and finishing, but those impressions should be read as commentary on that earlier generation rather than a hands-on assessment of V3.
Movement and stated performance
The V3 uses a customized Pequignet EPM03 automatic calibre. Atelier Wen specifies 21 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour, 65 hours of power reserve, hacking seconds, and adjustment in six positions and three temperatures. Its stated chronometer-grade accuracy is −4/+6 seconds per day, with an average of ±2 seconds per day. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independently measured V3 results.
The movement is visible through the exhibition back. Atelier Wen describes its bridges as shaped after a traditional Chinese representation of wind and finished with blue aventurine lacquer. Earlier-generation reviewers raised a fair buyer consideration: Zen Love’s Gear Patrol review noted that some buyers might hesitate over an unfamiliar movement at a price above $2,000. For V3, weigh the published performance and distinctive finishing alongside your comfort with the stated service arrangements and the brand’s warranty, rather than treating a specification sheet as an independent timing test.
Bracelet, clasp and strap options
The supplied bracelet is 904L steel with quick-release spring bars. Atelier Wen lists a taper from 22mm at the case to 18mm at the clasp, and a thickness taper from 3mm to 2.6mm. The clasp includes concealed on-the-fly micro-adjustment and a telescopic deployant blade.

The brand says an FKM rubber strap can be ordered separately. If you expect to alternate between bracelet and rubber, confirm strap compatibility, included accessories, and the cost of the separate strap on the official product page before checkout. Atelier Wen also lists a separately sold 904L bracelet; its bracelet listing states that accessory purchases are non-returnable.

Atelier Wen’s current product information states a five-year warranty from delivery covering manufacturing defects and mechanical issues during everyday use. The brand says the aftersales process involves shipping to and from global watchmaker partners. Read the warranty terms for exclusions, claim procedure, and any costs that could apply to your location before buying.
The official bracelet page says non-limited-edition watches may be returned within 14 days if they are in perfect condition and include accessories, documentation, and original protective film. It says pre-orders and limited-edition runs are final, and accessories are non-returnable. Because V3 availability is described in production allocations, confirm the return policy that applies to the exact order you are placing rather than assuming the general policy covers it.
Is the Atelier Wen Perception V3 worth its price?
The V3 is most compelling for a buyer who values hand-turned guilloché, Chinese design references, integrated-bracelet styling, and a finely finished steel case, and who is comfortable buying a watch whose current delivery timing depends on production allocation. Its key drawbacks to consider are the $4,850 US list price, the need to budget for the stated US surcharge or destination duties outside the US, and a customized movement whose performance figures are brand specifications rather than independent test results here.
