Travel or an all-day casual look

Choose pieces that feel good and hold their shape
Leggings and other bottoms
Check that the waistband feels comfortable and the fabric stretches easily as you move. For leggings, test opacity in motion—not just while standing. REI contributor Jacqueline Kehoe advises looking for a pair that “moves well with you, sits comfortably in the waist and isn’t see-through.” Stylist Oriona Robb recommends breathable four-way stretch and checking whether the fabric stays opaque during a squat. These are practical fit checks, not guarantees about every fabric or body.

Tops and layers
A simple tee or tank gives you a versatile base. Add a hoodie or sweater for warmth, or choose a blazer, bomber, or button-down for more structure. With fitted leggings, a relaxed or structured top creates contrast; with roomier joggers or wide-leg active trousers, a simpler or more fitted top can keep the silhouette balanced.
