The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph reference 26240BA.OO.1320BA.02 combines a 41 mm 18-carat yellow-gold case and integrated bracelet with a smoked, yellow-gold-toned Grande Tapisserie dial. It is an unmistakably high-presence take on the Royal Oak; its automatic calibre 4401 adds a flyback chronograph and 70-hour power reserve. The tactile impressions below are attributed to Denis Peshkov’s hands-on review published April 15, 2024; specifications and current US pricing are from Audemars Piguet’s product page.
What is the yellow-gold Royal Oak Chronograph?
Reference 26240BA.OO.1320BA.02 is officially named the Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph. Audemars Piguet describes this 41 mm model as pairing a yellow-gold case and bracelet with a smoked yellow-gold-toned Grande Tapisserie dial. The case is 12.4 mm thick, and the integrated bracelet is also 18-carat yellow gold, secured by an AP folding clasp. Sapphire is used for the crystal and caseback.
The dial keeps the Royal Oak’s familiar patterned surface but shifts the visual emphasis through a gold gradient. Applied yellow-gold hour markers and Royal Oak hands have luminous coating. In his April 15, 2024 hands-on review, Denis Peshkov describes the center as brighter gold fading toward a darker edge. He notes that the chronograph registers contrast against the gradient, while the date at 4:30 can blend into the darker outer portion.
What does it feel and look like on the wrist?
Peshkov characterizes the gold case and bracelet as substantial on the wrist and points to the way light moves across their brushed and polished surfaces. That impression is his, not a measurement of weight or a claim about fit for every wearer. The 41 mm diameter and 12.4 mm thickness provide useful dimensions to consider alongside the solid-gold construction, especially if you prefer a discreet or lightweight watch.

The all-gold treatment makes this reference more conspicuous than a steel Royal Oak Chronograph, but the gold dial is not simply a flat, uniformly bright surface: its smoked edge changes the way the registers and date read. The reviewer found the date could disappear into the darker tone; readers who prioritize quick date legibility should inspect the dial in person and under different lighting.
Movement and chronograph operation
Calibre 4401 is an automatic integrated chronograph movement with flyback function. Audemars Piguet lists hours, minutes, small seconds, and date among its functions. The movement measures 32 mm in diameter and 6.8 mm thick, contains 40 jewels and 381 parts, runs at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), and has a stated 70-hour power reserve.

Peshkov reports that the chronograph operated confidently and quickly in his hands-on experience, and specifically enjoyed the flyback action and sound of the pushers. Those are the reviewer’s subjective observations, not results of independent testing here. Flyback allows the chronograph to be reset and restarted in one continuous pusher action rather than requiring separate stop, reset, and restart presses.
Water resistance and warranty
Audemars Piguet specifies water resistance of 50 metres. That is the manufacturer’s rating, not a guarantee that the watch is suitable for every water activity; follow the current care guidance and have seals checked as recommended by an authorized service provider.
The manufacturer states that watches purchased through its authorized network from January 1, 2017 qualify for a five-year warranty, subject to the International Sales Warranty. Its product page also describes a two-year warranty for manufacturing defects. Because eligibility and coverage depend on the purchase and applicable terms, confirm the current warranty conditions with Audemars Piguet before relying on either period.

Audemars Piguet’s US product page displayed a non-binding recommended public price of $93,400, excluding taxes, when accessed October 7, 2026. That is a US reference price, not a guaranteed transaction price or a statement of stock.
