The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin Openworked 16204ST is a 39 mm stainless-steel Royal Oak whose defining feature is its visible, no-date Calibre 7124. The movement is just 2.7 mm thick. Introduced as part of the 16204 family in 2022, it is not a new 2026 release. The specifications below are documented by Audemars Piguet and specialist coverage; impressions of comfort, legibility, finishing and sound require handling the watch directly.
What is the Audemars Piguet 16204ST?
The full steel reference is 16204ST.OO.1240ST.01, named in Audemars Piguet’s official video published on 21 March 2022 (Audemars Piguet). It belongs to the Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin line, with an openworked movement rather than a conventional solid dial concealing the mechanism.
Audemars Piguet traces the 16204 generation to 2022, the Royal Oak’s 50th-anniversary year. The steel and pink-gold versions introduced the openworked Calibre 7124. AP explains that “Jumbo” is a collector term used for ultra-thin 39 mm Royal Oak watches; its current collection page also describes the Jumbo as 39 mm (Royal Oak collection).
What makes the openworked design distinctive?
Openworking makes the movement’s architecture visible from the front, turning the mechanism into the watch’s central visual feature. That is the clearest distinction from a Royal Oak with an opaque dial: here, the components and their arrangement are exposed rather than hidden. AP’s history and video describe this openworked construction as part of the 16204’s identity (AP Chronicles; official video and reference).

- ⌚〔Large Dial · Luminous & Waterproof〕:44mm matte stainless steel bezel, 20cm Scratch-resistant stainless steel strap, scratch‑resistant. Luminous hands for low‑light reading, 3ATM water resistance with anti‑fog – handles splashes and light rain easily.
- 🎁〔Gift box with strap tool〕:Unique skeleton and barrel-shaped design; perfect for Father’s Day, Valentine’s, Christmas, birthdays, and anniversaries.
- 📞〔OPK After-Sales Commitment〕: Round-the-clock online customer service and a 30-day return guarantee. Please feel free to contact us for any assistance.
That design choice also sets a practical trade-off for prospective owners: the visible mechanism is the attraction, while a conventional dial gives a less visually complex field for reading the time. Whether the hands and indications stand out clearly against the openworked background is a matter to assess on the actual watch, in the lighting and at the distance you normally use.
How thin is Calibre 7124, and does the watch show the date?
Calibre 7124 measures 2.7 mm high and has no date display, according to Audemars Piguet’s 2022 history and official video (AP Chronicles; official video). Specialist coverage describes it as a selfwinding openworked movement related to Calibre 7121 (Monochrome Watches).

AP says the larger barrel stores more energy than the predecessor design. That statement does not establish an exact power-reserve figure, so a specific number should not be inferred from it. The 2.7 mm figure is the movement’s height, not the total thickness of the watch.
How does the 16204ST compare with the 16202ST?
The references share the broader 39 mm Jumbo context, but the evidence cited here establishes the 16204ST’s defining difference: its openworked Calibre 7124 and absence of a date display. A full side-by-side comparison with a particular 16202ST configuration would require matched specifications for that exact reference and market; the cited sources do not establish every case, dial, movement, price or availability difference. Avoid treating the reference numbers alone as a complete comparison.

That is historical launch pricing, not a current retail quote or a secondary-market valuation. The same report listed €116,200 for the pink-gold version at launch; it is a historical comparator, not a current price for either model.
Current price, availability and production status need to be checked with Audemars Piguet or a seller for the relevant market and date. AP’s current collection page includes openworked Royal Oak variants, but does not by itself confirm that this exact steel reference is currently available (Royal Oak collection). No general resale statistic is established here.

What should you verify before buying?
For a specific listing, establish that it is the exact 16204ST.OO.1240ST.01 reference and assess the individual watch rather than relying on a generic model description. Ask for documentation and terms that apply to the actual sale.
- Confirm the full reference, condition and provenance against the watch and its paperwork.
- Verify seller authorization, authenticity documentation and what warranty is included.
- Check the return policy, shipping geography and whether duties or taxes affect the quoted price.
- For a pre-owned watch, clarify service history and how any claimed service can be verified.
- Date-stamp any price comparison; the 2022 European launch figure is not a present-day benchmark.
Audemars Piguet’s official model history is useful for lineage and movement context; the exact watch’s condition, service record, market price and availability remain specific to the example and transaction.
