Calibre 2924 and the tourbillon
The manually wound Calibre 2924 keeps the watch 9 mm thick while fitting a tourbillon into the movement. The tourbillon sits at six o’clock and completes one rotation per minute. Hours and minutes are read on the dial; the power-reserve display is on the movement side, so it is not visible while wearing the watch with its dial facing up.

Black ceramic: hardness and trade-offs
The case and bracelet use black ceramic, paired with titanium components at the caseback and clasp. Audemars Piguet Heritage gives a simplified comparison of approximately 1,300 Vickers for ceramic versus approximately 200 Vickers for steel, describing ceramic as about 6.5 times harder. That comparison concerns hardness, not impact toughness: it does not make the watch unbreakable or establish that this specific reference is immune to damage. AP’s account of its ceramic bracelet development is available in its Royal Oak ceramic bracelet history. Sotheby’s describes the ceramic blend as based on zirconium oxide and yttrium oxide in its 2023 lot catalogue.
2019 launch price and what later estimates mean
Hodinkee and Monochrome reported a CHF 156,000 launch price in 2019 for the 100-piece edition. It is a historical launch figure, not evidence of the current retail price. In 2023, Sotheby’s estimated a circa-2020 example at USD 120,000–240,000. Its inspected catalogue page did not show the sale result, so that range is an estimate, not a realized price or a current valuation.
