The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon “COMPANION” is a 43 mm titanium collaboration that places a sculpted KAWS character at the centre of the dial and shifts the hour and minute display to the movement’s edge. Its reference is 26656TI.GG.D019VE.01. Audemars Piguet limited the model to 250 pieces; launch coverage reported a price of CHF 200,000 in November 2024, but current pricing and availability are not established.
What is the Audemars Piguet KAWS “COMPANION” watch?
It is a design-led Royal Oak Concept tourbillon made by Audemars Piguet with artist KAWS. The miniature COMPANION figure is sculpted in titanium and mounted on a sunburst-finished titanium dial plate. Its familiar skull-like head, X-shaped eyes, gloves and crossbones are rendered in contrasting grey tones. The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry says the X-shaped eyes are cut into the titanium and filled with grey lacquer.
The figure’s chest reveals the tourbillon, while its face and hands appear to press against the sapphire crystal. That central sculpture changes the usual dial layout: instead of placing conventional hands across the middle, the watch displays the time around the perimeter.
Audemars Piguet identifies the model as reference 26656TI.GG.D019VE.01. The brand’s collaboration overview describes the technical and design concept at AP x KAWS Welcomes a ‘COMPANION’.

How does it tell time?
The hour and minute hands travel around the dial’s outer edge on two visible, superimposed gear wheels. Audemars Piguet says pinions drive the wheels and rollers guide them. This peripheral display leaves the centre available for the COMPANION sculpture and the tourbillon in its chest.
The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry reports that the titanium hands and five-minute graduations glow blue in the dark. The minutes hand is openworked, helping distinguish it from the hours hand. The arrangement is visually unconventional, so reading the time requires looking to the perimeter rather than toward the central figure.

Calibre 2979 and movement specifications
The watch is powered by hand-wound Calibre 2979, which provides hours, minutes and a tourbillon. The tourbillon is visible on the dial side at 6 o’clock. Europa Star’s launch-era technical specifications list the following movement details:

Case, materials and straps
Europa Star lists a 43 mm sandblasted titanium case measuring 17.4 mm thick, with a sapphire crystal and caseback and 100 m water resistance. The crown is black ceramic with a titanium chip. The watch was specified with two interchangeable calfskin straps with a textile effect, one light grey and one slate grey, plus a titanium triple-blade folding clasp. These are published launch-era specifications rather than independent measurements.
How many were made, and how much does it cost?
The edition is limited to 250 pieces, according to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry and Europa Star. Hodinkee reported a CHF 200,000 retail price in its November 19, 2024 launch article. That is a dated launch-price report, not a current official quote. Audemars Piguet’s product page identifies the reference but does not establish a current price or stock status; present boutique availability and secondary-market pricing remain unverified.

The central character is not simply an applied decoration beside a conventional time display. Its placement dictates the architecture: the tourbillon is integrated into the figure’s chest, and the time display moves to the movement’s perimeter. Audemars Piguet Research and Development Director Lucas Raggi described the aim as creating “a spectacular setting with the character at the centre, surrounded by a brand-new hour and minute display system housed in the periphery of the movement.”
