How does the 41 mm model fit into the Royal Oak calendar lineage?
The 2025 generation is part of a much longer story, not Audemars Piguet’s first Royal Oak perpetual calendar. The brand’s heritage account dates the presentation of Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Reference 25554 to the 1984 Basel Fair. AP records more than 1,100 watches sold between 1984 and 1997 across references 25554 and 26654. Those are historical figures for the named references and period, not sales data for today’s Calibre 7138 watch. Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak calendar history also says more than 7,000 watches using Calibre 2120/2800 were sold over the subsequent 15 years.
That history includes a separate technical milestone: AP says Calibre 5133, launched in 2018, measured 2.89 mm thick and broke the thinness record previously held by Calibre 2120/2800. This is useful context for the brand’s perpetual-calendar development, but it is not a thickness specification for Calibre 7138. The crown-correction story of the newer movement should not be conflated with the thinness achievement of Calibre 5133.

No evidence here establishes that the 38 mm perpetual-calendar watches covered later in 2025 are the same model or movement as the 41 mm Calibre 7138 launch generation. EL PAÍS’s September 30, 2025 report discusses 38 mm models and says their adjustments use the crown without external pushers or tools.
