Chinos when you want a familiar middle ground
Heavy cotton twill gives chinos more structure than a lightweight chino fabric. Peached or brushed cotton has a softer finish; Proper Cloth describes brushed cotton as warm and similar to wool flannel in feel. Pleats are a construction detail, not a fabric category. They can add room around the hips and thighs, which may help when sitting or moving, while giving an outfit a more deliberate silhouette. They are not a substitute for choosing a rise and cut that suit your body.

Check that the waistband stays secure without pulling across the seat or thighs, and that the leg gives you room to move. A clean fall matters more than following a single rule about wide, slim or tapered legs. Some tailored trousers are sold unfinished so a tailor can set the length and break; check the listing before buying and factor in alterations.
