What is the BAIT x G-SHOCK “Yamagata’s Finest”?
It is a BAIT collaboration built on the G-SHOCK DW-5600 design. The coverage identifies it as a DW-5600, but does not give a collaboration-specific Casio model code. T3’s launch report describes a limited release, although BAIT had not disclosed a production quantity. T3’s September 30, 2026 coverage and Hodinkee’s September 29, 2026 coverage both discuss the collaboration.
Why does the watch look like a banana?
The watch uses a bright yellow resin case and integrated strap, marked with irregular brown speckles and a darker tip. Its display surround is silver-grey. T3 reports that the electroluminescent backlight reveals another banana graphic. The fruit theme is a playful timing reference: bananas ripen, and the watch keeps time.
The packaging extends the concept with BAIT Farms branding, including a special tin and box. Coverage names “Shawty with Freckles” as the mascot associated with the design and packaging. The retailer announcement reproduced by Imginn also frames the concept as a tongue-in-cheek tribute; it is not a BAIT-hosted product page. What does “Yamagata’s Finest” refer to?
The name is reported as a nod to Yamagata Prefecture and a Casio site described by T3 as G-SHOCK’s “mother factory.” In that account, the collaboration pays homage to the facility. This is the reported inspiration behind the name, not evidence that an individual BAIT watch was manufactured there; the available coverage does not establish the production location of this specific unit.

T3 reported a $170 price and a planned launch at BAIT Santa Ana on September 29, 2026, followed by sales through BAIT Chapter stores and BAITMe.com beginning September 30. The reproduced BAIT announcement reported the same dates and channels. These are launch details, not confirmation of inventory on October 4, 2026. Current stock, resale prices and international availability have not been established by those reports.

The collaboration was described as limited, but no release quantity was announced. BAIT’s announcement also describes a matching apparel capsule. Coverage varies in its description of the individual pieces, so the available accounts support the capsule’s existence, not a definitive item-by-item list.
