The redesign brought the case down to 42 mm and removed the earlier model’s second crown. Its appeal is clearest if you want those two functions in one watch; the trade-off is a relatively thick, substantial bracelet watch rather than a slim everyday piece.
What makes the 2020 Diver Worldtime different?
This review concerns the black-dial, bracelet-equipped DG2232A-SC-BK, not every watch later sold under the Diver Worldtime name. BALL’s current listing identifies this reference as a limited edition of 1,000. Later family variants may have different details, so check the reference rather than assuming the same specifications carry over.
The central idea is the rotating bezel: instead of using a separate crown to adjust the city ring, the external bezel operates the inner ring. That gives the watch a 24-city worldtime indication and a 60-minute elapsed-time scale without a second crown at 2 o’clock.
How does the bezel work?
BALL specifies a unidirectional bezel with 60-minute elapsed-time graduations. Turn it to position the inner ring, then use the dive-time graduation as a reference for elapsed minutes. The same inner ring carries 24 named cities for worldtime indication. This is a combined display, not two separate rings with independent controls.

For a dive, align the relevant bezel marker with the minute hand at the start of the interval and read elapsed time from the scale as the hand advances. The bezel’s one-way operation is a familiar dive-watch safety convention: if it is moved accidentally during a timing interval, it can indicate more elapsed time, rather than less. The city display gives a quick reference to time zones, but the available specifications do not establish automatic daylight-saving adjustment; account for local seasonal time changes yourself.
What changed from the earlier version?
The contemporaneous review metadata describes the 2020 redesign as a change from the same-named 2016 watch. The case diameter decreased from 45 mm to 42 mm, the second crown was removed, and the bezel became operable by hand. BALL describes the redesigned external rotating bezel as controlling the inner city and dive ring. The result is a simpler two-control layout while retaining both functions.

These dimensions are from BALL’s current official listing for this reference. Diameter alone does not settle fit: 14.4 mm of height and 48 mm from lug to lug matter too, and approximately 160 g on the bracelet makes it a substantial watch. The 20 mm lug width is useful when looking for a replacement strap, but it does not guarantee compatibility with a particular end-link shape, buckle, or diving setup.
Movement, functions, and illumination
The watch uses BALL automatic caliber RR1501-C, which BALL identifies as COSC-certified. Its listed functions are worldtime indication, hours, minutes, sweep seconds, day, and date. BALL’s 2020/2021 catalogue gives the model a 38-hour power reserve; that period figure is not stated on the current family listing.

BALL lists 36 micro gas tubes across the dial, hands, and inner bezel, and describes them as self-illuminating without external charging. Those are manufacturer specifications; no independent lume test is available here. BALL also calls the combination of worldtime, day, and date a first for the timepiece, a manufacturer claim rather than an independently established industry-wide first.
Dive specification and magnetic protection
BALL rates the DG2232A-SC-BK to 300 m (1,000 ft) water resistance and 4,800 A/m anti-magnetism. These are manufacturer ratings, not results from independent water-pressure or magnetic testing. The depth rating is a specification, not a recommendation to use the watch without checking its condition, crown security, and service status.

Price, warranty, and buying checks
Price references depend on date and market. BALL’s official listing displayed CHF 3,688 and 15-day availability when accessed; aBlogtoWatch’s indexed review metadata reported US$3,349 for the version in July 2020. These are snapshots from different contexts, not a current worldwide price comparison. Confirm the exact reference, configuration, currency, taxes or duties, seller, condition, and warranty before purchase.
BALL states that its international warranty runs for 24 months, or 48 months with a qualifying Premium warranty card, subject to its terms. Its listing directs owners to authorized service centers and says shipping to those centers is at the customer’s expense; unauthorized handling or alteration can affect warranty repair responsibility. Warranty rules can vary by region and circumstance, so verify the terms applicable to the specific watch with BALL.

- Ask for service history and confirmation of water-resistance condition, especially for a pre-owned example.

Is the 2020 BALL Diver Worldtime worth considering?
It is a distinctive option for someone who will use both a dive timer and a city-time display and prefers one integrated control rather than a second crown. The 42 mm case is smaller than the 2016 model described in contemporaneous metadata, but the 14.4 mm height, 48 mm lug-to-lug span, and bracelet weight still deserve consideration before buying. Its specifications are compelling on paper, but comfort, finishing, bezel feel, real-world accuracy, and current market value have not been independently assessed here; those points should be judged on the individual watch and seller rather than assumed from the specification sheet.
