The Citizen Promaster WaveTracker JV3000-13E is a practical planning tool for a beachcomber who wants tide timing on the wrist. It is a weaker match for anyone who expects it to be proven in surf, sand, or saltwater. We found no independent test of this watch under those conditions, so this article separates what Citizen states about the JV3000-13E from what can reasonably be said about using it on a shoreline.
What the JV3000-13E is
The JV3000-13E belongs to Citizen’s Promaster Marine line. Citizen describes the Wave Tracker as a solar-powered Eco-Drive combination watch with a high-definition MIP display, Tide Mode, Race Mode, a calendar, world time, a chronograph, a countdown timer, and an LED backlight, according to its global Wave Tracker product feature page. The US listing identifies the movement as Caliber U812. Citizen’s global launch announcement is dated May 21, 2026, and the US listing says the model launched June 3, 2026.
Specifications by regional listing

Tide Mode: planning data, not a live reading
Tide Mode shows hourly tide graphs for listed locations, along with high and low tide times, moon phase, sunrise, and sunset. Citizen’s global feature page says the tide graphs cover 203 locations in 88 countries. The watch works from location data it holds; it does not measure the water level at your beach, and nothing on the dial is a sensor reading. Treat the display as a prediction for the nearest listed location.
How to use it for a low-tide walk
- Before you leave, set Tide Mode to the listed location closest to your beach. If your stretch of coast is far from any listed site, the graph describes a different shoreline and should not be used as your timing source.
- Note the low-water time and the period of falling tide leading into it. Most beachcombing finds on flats, rock pools, and shingle sit in the window before and after low water.
- Cross-check the high and low times against the national or regional tide prediction for your beach. Where the two disagree, use the official prediction and arrive early.
- Allow for weather. Strong onshore wind and low barometric pressure can push water higher than predicted, and a long swell can reduce the exposed area you expected to find.
What the moon and sun data add
Moon phase is useful for spring tides, which produce larger exposures of sand and rock than neutral tides. Sunrise and sunset times help you plan a walk around the lowest tides, which often fall outside the usual daylight hours. The watch shows these values as stored calendar information, so confirm them against a current almanac if you plan a trip weeks in advance.

Race Mode: a sailing feature with little beach use
Citizen’s Japan store says Race Mode was designed for yacht racing and automatically starts a stopwatch when the countdown ends. Citizen’s global page describes the same automatic switch from countdown to count-up. The function signals the watch’s intended use on the water. On a beach, you are unlikely to need a start-line timer, so treat it as a secondary feature for this purpose.
Water resistance: what 200 m does and does not tell a beachcomber
Citizen’s US listing rates the JV3000-13E at WR200/20 bar/666 ft and says it is suitable for swimming, showering, and snorkeling. That is a static pressure rating: it describes how the case holds up against water pressure under controlled conditions. It does not address sand that works under the bezel or between the strap and the case, the impact of breaking waves, or the cumulative effect of salt and grit over years of use. Those are the everyday hazards of a beach walk, and the rating does not speak to them.

A few habits reduce the risk and cost nothing:
- Rinse the watch in fresh water after surf, salt spray, or a sandy walk, then dry it thoroughly.
- Check the strap keepers and the gap between the strap and case for trapped sand after each outing.
- Avoid pressing the crown or pushers while the case is wet or gritty, since grit near the moving parts is the most likely source of damage.
- Keep a note of the service interval and any seal or crystal issues, so you can raise them with Citizen or an authorized service center early.
Size and comfort on the wrist
A 42 mm case with a 22 mm lug width is a mid-to-large sport watch. On a smaller wrist it may overhang the wrist bone, which matters when you kneel or lean over rock pools. The 102 g weight given on the Japan listing is a moderate load for a day outing, though you should check it against your own tolerance. The PU strap is easy to rinse, but it will show sand and salt residue more readily than a fabric or steel bracelet would, so plan for a quick clean after each walk.
Price at the time of checking
When we checked, Citizen’s US listing showed $636, reduced from $795. Regional pricing changes often, so confirm the current price on Citizen’s own site or with an authorized retailer before you buy. We did not verify retailer availability or terms for this review.

Verdict
The JV3000-13E is worth considering if you want a watch that puts tide timing, moon phase, and sunrise and sunset on your wrist for a coastal walk. Its tide data is a planning aid built on stored location information, so it works best when your beach is close to a listed site and when you confirm the times against an official tide prediction. Its water resistance rating is a manufacturer specification for swimming, showering, and snorkeling, not evidence that the watch will handle sand and surf without wear. If you plan to use it regularly on the beach, adopt a rinse-and-check routine and treat the rating as a starting point rather than a guarantee.
