The Bell & Ross BR-05 takes the brand’s circle-in-a-square dial and places it in a softened square case with an integrated bracelet. The original 40 mm model was covered in a 2019 hands-on report; today the collection also includes 36 mm and 41 mm automatics, a 42 mm chronograph, a GMT and skeleton variants. Current US catalog examples start at $4,700 for selected 36 mm steel models, but prices vary by reference and configuration.
What distinguishes the BR-05 design?
The BR-05 translates Bell & Ross’s familiar round dial, square frame and four corner screws into a more urban sports-watch design. Its bracelet is integrated into the case rather than simply attached to conventional lugs. Bell & Ross Creative Director and co-founder Bruno Belamich explains that “the first link forms part of the case,” giving the transition a distinctive graphic effect. Bell & Ross’s collection overview describes the design and current families.
The 2019 launch report described a steel case with satin surfaces and polished bevels, a protected screw-down crown, and a thin bracelet that tapers toward a triple-folding clasp. Black or blue textured rubber straps were also offered. Its wrist-fit comments belong to that original reviewer: on a 16.5 cm wrist, they found the 40 mm watch balanced while still having noticeable presence. That is a reported impression, not a guarantee of fit for every wrist. Monochrome Watches’ 2019 launch coverage includes live imagery of the watch and its details.
Which BR-05 versions are in the collection?
Bell & Ross currently groups the collection into four families. The overview gives the general sizes and functions below; specifications can vary by reference, so check the product page for the exact model.

| Family | Size stated by Bell & Ross | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| BR-05 Auto | 36, 40 or 41 mm | Time-and-date automatic models; the collection overview lists a 54-hour power reserve. |
| BR-05 Chrono | 42 mm | Chronograph function. |
| BR-05 GMT | 41 mm | GMT function for tracking another time zone. |
| BR-05 Skeleton | Varies by reference | Open dial treatment that exposes movement architecture. |
Those sizes and the 54-hour reserve are collection-level information from Bell & Ross, not a promise that every reference shares identical dimensions or movement specifications. The US catalog also includes steel, ceramic, gold and diamond-related selections. Use its filters and individual listings to narrow by case width and configuration: official BR-05 collection and official US catalog.
What did the 2019 BR-05 hands-on report describe?
The launch-era review concerned the 40 mm BR-05 Auto, not the whole current range. It reported a case approximately 11 mm thick, 100 m water resistance and a BR-CAL.321 automatic movement based on Sellita SW-300 architecture. The stated power reserve was 42 hours, with 25 jewels, quick date, stop seconds and a skeletonized rotor. The case was described as steel or 18k rose gold, with sapphire crystals front and back and a screw-down crown. These are historical specifications for the launch model; do not assume they apply to later sizes, complications or movement generations.

How to choose a BR-05 configuration
- Start with size and fit. The current Auto family spans 36, 40 and 41 mm, while the Chrono is 42 mm. Case diameter alone does not establish how a watch will sit on your wrist; consider the case shape and bracelet transition as well.
- Choose the function you will use. Auto models keep to the core time-and-date format; the Chrono adds stopwatch capability, and the GMT adds a second-time-zone function.
- Decide whether you want a conventional or open dial. A standard dial prioritizes a more traditional display; Skeleton versions make movement architecture part of the visual design.
- Compare the exact movement and water-resistance specifications. The launch-era 42-hour reserve and 100 m rating describe the 2019 40 mm model only. Check current reference-level specifications rather than carrying those figures across the range.
- Compare materials and attachment options. Steel, ceramic, gold and diamond-related options appear in the official catalog. A bracelet and a rubber strap change both the look and the listed price.
- Use the market-specific product page for the final price. Catalog examples differ by reference and configuration, and dated UK reports should not be treated as current US pricing.
