What is the Caliber 9SA5 power reserve?
The 9SA5 has an 80-hour power reserve, meaning a fully wound watch is specified to run for up to 80 hours without additional winding. Its 36,000-vibrations-per-hour rate is a high-beat specification: the balance completes 10 beats per second. The static accuracy figure and the Japan-market wearing guideline should not be treated as interchangeable, because they describe different accuracy contexts.
How much did the SLGH002 cost?
Grand Seiko’s March 5, 2020 English press release gave an approximate U.S. recommended retail price of $43,000. Its Japanese release listed ¥4,500,000 before tax and scheduled sales to begin August 1, 2020. A Grand Seiko Benelux regional model page displayed EUR 45,000 when checked; that is a regional page price, not a global price or a resale estimate. The SLGH002 combines a scarce anniversary edition, a gold case and clasp, and the newly announced 9SA5 in one model. In its March 5, 2020 press release, Grand Seiko called 9SA5 “the finest mechanical caliber that we have ever created.” That is the brand’s own characterization; the release does not attribute the statement to a named individual.
