The Bell & Ross BR-X5 Blue Lum is a 2024 limited-edition watch whose blue-light effect comes from luminous composite in its case as well as selected dial details. It is not literally all luminescent: the date numerals stay unlit. Its 41 mm titanium-and-composite case, automatic BR-CAL.323 movement and approximately 70-hour power reserve make it a distinctive take on the BR-X5, rather than a different mechanical platform.
What makes the BR-X5 Blue Lum different?
Bell & Ross unveiled the BR-X5 Blue Lum at WatchTime New York in October 2024. It followed the 2023 BR-X5 Green Lum and carries forward the square-within-a-square BR-X5 architecture introduced in 2022. The defining change is the vivid blue-emitting composite used in parts of the case, paired with a black dial and blue-lit details. WatchTime reported the launch on October 18, 2024, while Monochrome Watches reviewed it on October 19, 2024.
The reference is BRX5R-BLUM-TC/SRB. Bell & Ross calls the luminous composite LM3D and says it combines epoxy quartz fiber, luminescent material and resin. The brand describes it as 70% lighter than steel; that is the manufacturer’s comparison, not an independently reported weight test. The case structure centers on a microblasted, DLC-finished Grade 2 titanium container, with blue luminescent composite upper and lower plates. A fixed Grade 2 titanium bezel carries a luminescent-composite plate.
Which parts glow—and which do not?
“Full-lume” refers to the striking luminous case treatment plus selected dial elements, not every component. On the black matte dial, blue-emission Super-LumiNova is applied to the indices and skeletonized hour and minute hands. Monochrome also identifies blue highlighting on the central seconds hand, power-reserve track and date-aperture outline. The date disc’s numerals do not glow.

The case and dial serve different visual roles: the composite makes the case itself the prominent blue-lit element, while the hands and markers provide the useful time-reading cues. The available published specifications do not establish a measured brightness or glow duration, so those should not be inferred from the “powerful emissions” description on the brand’s product page.
Movement, display and core specifications
The BR-X5 Blue Lum uses Bell & Ross’s automatic manufacture BR-CAL.323. The brand identifies it as COSC-certified; Monochrome reports that Kenissi developed it exclusively, with a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a 70-hour reserve. The dial displays hours, minutes and seconds, with the date at 3 o’clock and power reserve at 9 o’clock.

Fit and everyday considerations
At 41 mm wide and 12.80 mm thick, the Blue Lum shares the main dimensions reported for other BR-X5 variants. Its 100 m water-resistance rating and screw-down crown are manufacturer specifications. The watch has a black perforated rubber strap, and Bell & Ross offers its own circumference-based size guide: S below 6.3 in/16 cm, M from 6.3–7.5 in/16–19 cm, and L above 7.5 in/19 cm. Those categories are a starting point, not a substitute for trying the watch on; the brand also offers a measurement kit.
Price, edition size and availability
The edition is limited to 500 pieces. Prices reported for the launch and the current regional listing differ by market and date, so they should not be treated as one universal current price.

The Green Lum is the direct predecessor: both use the LM3D luminous-composite concept, with blue replacing green as the emission color on the Blue Lum. The available specifications support that comparison, but do not establish broader technical changes between the two Lum models.

The Ice Blue Steel model is a steel watch with a conventional ice-blue dial; the Blue Lum substitutes luminous composite case elements and a black dial with blue-emission details. The Ice Blue Steel search listing shares the same 41 mm width, 12.8 mm thickness, 100 m rating and BR-CAL.323 baseline, so the Blue Lum’s appeal is its case treatment and limited-edition character rather than a different size or movement family.
