If you want to stay in the Frogman family but prefer an analog dial, the Casio GWF-A1000 is the closest fit. For active dive-computer functions, look instead at the Garmin Descent Mk3 or Suunto Ocean: they are a different category, not like-for-like watch replacements.
Casio’s US product page spells the reference GWF-D1000BC-1. Its 0–80 m depth-measurement range is separate from its ISO 200-meter water-resistance rating. That distinction matters when comparing it with other watches.

What the Frogman GWF-D1000BC-1 does
Casio lists the GWF-D1000BC-1 as a Tough Solar digital Frogman with ISO 200-meter water resistance. Its depth function measures from 0 to 80 m in 0.1 m units; that is a sensor range, not the water-resistance rating. The watch also measures dive time in one-second increments up to 5:59:59, tracks surface time, has an ascent-rate alarm, and automatically stores up to 20 dive records. Casio lists a 59.2 × 53.3 × 18 mm case and a weight of 181 g on its US product page, accessed in 2026.

- The product video shows "fluorine elastomer band", but this product is a composite band (resin x fine resin with metal parts embedded). It also features a double locking one-push tri-fold clasp with an extension mechanism that allows you to easily adjust the band when wearing a wetsuit
- G-SHOCK "Frogman" series analog display model with ISO standard 200 m submersible waterproofing to support underwater missions
- Dive mode / Tide graph mode to support diving activities: Dive mode to show diving time and surface rest time. Tide graph mode displays tide information anywhere and current time in that city. Analog display of useful functions for diving activities
- Bluetooth Radio Solar: Support Bluetooth, standard radio wave time correction. Equipped with tough solar, it is stable to drive various functions
- Smartphone Link: Dedicated app allows you to easily set tide data around 3000 locations around the world in the app. You can also check the dive logs on your smartphone and enjoy the data measured on the watch side

Best alternatives by the kind of diving watch you want
Stay with Frogman, switch to an analog display: Casio GWF-A1000
Casio announced the GWF-A1000 in 2020 as the first Frogman with an analog display. Its cited dive functions are one-second dive-time measurement up to 1:59:59, surface-time measurement up to 24 hours, and storage of up to 30 log records. Casio states ISO 200-meter water resistance. The announcement does not establish a depth-measurement function, so it is a display-format alternative rather than a direct substitute for the GWF-D1000BC-1’s depth gauge. See Casio’s 2020 announcement.

Choose an analog watch with a depth meter: Citizen Promaster Eco-Drive Aqualand 200m
Citizen’s 2021 announcement describes the Promaster Eco-Drive Aqualand 200m as a light-powered watch with an analog depth meter. A water sensor detects entry into the water and switches the watch to dive mode. This is the most directly relevant option here if you want an analog depth display rather than the Frogman’s digital one. The announcement describes a series; it does not establish that every Aqualand variant in every market has identical specifications. Check the exact model sold in your region. Details are in Citizen’s product announcement.
Prioritize computer functions: Garmin Descent Mk3
Garmin describes the Descent Mk3 as an advanced dive computer and smartwatch and lists a 43 mm version. Consider it when you want a wrist-worn dive computer combined with smartwatch functions, rather than a conventional dive watch. Garmin’s product page covers the Descent Mk3; confirm the exact regional SKU for current specifications and availability.

Want a sports watch and recreational dive computer: Suunto Ocean
Suunto identifies Ocean as a dive computer and sports watch. Its product page specifies recreational single-gas diving with nitrox support, with alarms for depth, dive time, and ascent/descent speed. It belongs in the computer category, not as a direct conventional-watch equivalent to the Frogman. Check the Suunto Ocean product page for the listed configuration.
How to choose between a dive watch and a dive computer
- Need a depth display on a conventional watch? The Citizen Aqualand announcement explicitly describes an analog depth meter. Casio’s GWF-D1000BC-1 has a digital depth measurement function; the cited GWF-A1000 announcement does not establish one.
- Prefer analog or digital readability? The GWF-A1000 and Aqualand are analog-display options; the GWF-D1000BC-1 is digital. The computer models are separate choices for readers seeking computer functionality.
- Need a dive log or timing functions? Compare the specific functions and limits stated for each model, rather than assuming that all watches record the same information. Casio’s cited models have different stated timing and log capacities.
- Want dive-computer operating features? Garmin and Suunto identify their products as dive computers. Their pages should be checked for the exact SKU and capabilities that match your planned use.
- Check fit as well as features. The cited Casio page provides case dimensions and weight for the GWF-D1000BC-1, but the sources here do not provide like-for-like dimensions for every alternative. Verify the precise variant before purchase.
Water resistance is not the same as a dive computer
A water-resistance rating alone does not establish that a watch has a depth gauge, dive timing, logs, alarms, or the operating features of a dive computer. Likewise, a watch’s stated dive functions do not make it an active dive computer or a substitute for training and established dive procedures.

Citizen says it “reserves the term diver’s watch for watches that conform to the ISO 6425 standard.” That is Citizen’s terminology, not evidence that every manufacturer uses the label identically. Its diver’s-watch technology overview also explains that a screw-down crown helps reduce accidental setting changes underwater.
