The closest alternative to Casio’s announced blue-sapphire MR-G square is the MRG-B5000D-1: it shares the 5000-square MR-G identity and offers titanium construction, sapphire crystal, solar charging, radio timekeeping and Bluetooth. If blue sapphire accents matter more than a full sapphire bezel, consider the limited MRG-B5000SA or the full-metal GMW-B5000SB.
The MRG-D5000 itself is scheduled for December 1, 2026, with production limited to 20 worldwide. Casio’s Japanese announcement lists a tax-included suggested retail price of ¥11,000,000. Those are announced Japanese details, not confirmation of local stock or pricing. Casio’s announcement describes it as the first G-SHOCK to achieve a shock-resistant structure using blue sapphire crystal.

MRG-B5000D-1: the closest match in line and shape
The MRG-B5000D-1 is the most direct alternative if what you want is an MR-G square rather than the D5000’s unusual sapphire construction. It belongs to the MR-G B5000 family and combines a titanium exterior with sapphire crystal, shock resistance, Tough Solar, Multi Band 6 radio timekeeping and Bluetooth. Casio lists dimensions of 49.4 × 43.2 × 12.9 mm and a weight of 114 g on its official international product page.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Its key compromise is material and scarcity: it has a conventional titanium MR-G bezel construction, not the announced full blue-sapphire bezel of the MRG-D5000, and Casio’s cited pages do not establish a limited production quantity for this model. It is the practical choice for someone prioritizing the MR-G square, its functions and titanium construction over the D5000’s rare-material distinction.

MRG-B5000SA: sapphire accents within MR-G
Choose the MRG-B5000SA if you want a closer visual and collection-family connection to the MRG-D5000 than a standard titanium square offers, but do not need a sapphire bezel. Casio specifies two 2-carat faceted blue sapphire pieces, blue AIP finishing and a 500-piece production run. The distinction is substantial: two set stones are accents, while the MRG-D5000 is announced with a blue-sapphire bezel and a 20-piece worldwide limit.

- Case Diameter: 53.8mm
- Water resistant 200m (660ft): in general, suitable for professional marine activity and serious surface water sports, but not diving
GMW-B5000SB: blue stones in a full-metal G-SHOCK
The GMW-B5000SB may suit buyers drawn to the blue stones and square full-metal format who do not require MR-G membership. Casio’s announcement specifies four blue sapphires set into the bezel. It does not state a production limit. This is a full-metal G-SHOCK alternative, not an MR-G, and its bezel accents should not be mistaken for the D5000’s full blue-sapphire bezel.
What makes the MR-G B5000 family different?
Casio describes the MR-G B5000 family as using a 25-component bezel, a Multi-Guard shock-absorbing structure, a COBARION bezel top, a DAT55G band and Ti64 case components, with sapphire crystal. Finish variants include titanium-carbide silver and DLC black. These details make the family a material- and finishing-focused option, but they do not establish that one model is tougher than another in independent testing.

Casio says COBARION is about four times harder than pure titanium and DAT55G about three times harder. These are Casio’s material claims, not independent comparative test results. The family specifications and material descriptions are on Casio’s MR-G B5000 page.

- Choose the MRG-B5000D-1 if the MR-G 5000 square, titanium construction and core solar, radio and Bluetooth functions matter most.
- Choose the MRG-B5000SA if you want a limited MR-G square with blue sapphire accents, while accepting that it does not have a full sapphire bezel.
- Choose the GMW-B5000SB if a full-metal G-SHOCK square with blue sapphire bezel accents is enough and MR-G status is not essential.
- Wait for the MRG-D5000 if the defining feature is the full blue-sapphire bezel and the announced 20-piece edition. Its scheduled release is December 1, 2026; availability outside the announced Japanese information is not established.
