There is no single best G-Shock for every buyer: choose a 5000/5600 for the classic square digital look, the GW-M5610-1 for solar charging and radio-controlled timekeeping, or the GA-2100 for a slimmer analog-digital design. Casio also identifies the 6900 and 110 as iconic alternatives. These recommendations reflect Casio’s model descriptions and specifications, not independent hands-on testing.
Choose by the kind of watch you want
G-Shock is a range of designs and feature sets, not one standardized specification. Casio groups the square 5000/5600, octagonal 2100, triple-graph 6900 and 110 among its iconic series. Decide first whether you want a digital square, an analog-digital face, or a different signature G-Shock style; then check the exact reference for the features that matter to you.
Classic digital square: 5000/5600
The 5000/5600 is the straightforward choice if you want the classic square G-Shock silhouette. Casio’s family guide distinguishes the case materials: 5000 models use stainless steel cases, while 5600 models use resin cases. That family-level distinction does not tell you every detail of every variant, so verify the specification for the precise model you are considering.
Solar charging, Bluetooth and Multiband 6 are available on selected 5000/5600 models, but they are not standard across the family. If one of these functions is a priority, confirm that it appears on the exact model’s specifications rather than assuming it comes with a square case. Casio’s 5600/5000 feature guide covers the family’s options.

Solar and radio timekeeping: GW-M5610-1
The GW-M5610-1 is a specific square model to consider if you want both Tough Solar charging and Multiband 6 radio-controlled timekeeping. Casio also lists shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance for this reference. Its listed dimensions are 46.7 × 43.2 × 12.7 mm, and its listed weight is 51.7 g. These are specifications for the GW-M5610-1, not measurements that apply to every square G-Shock.

Slimmer analog-digital style: GA-2100
The GA-2100 suits buyers who prefer an octagonal bezel and a combination analog-digital display over a fully digital square. Casio describes its construction as Carbon Core Guard and lists a thickness of approximately 11.8 mm and 200-meter water resistance. Casio says the 2100 series launched in 2019 with a thin module and analog-digital face; this is the manufacturer’s description, not a comparative test.

Other iconic designs: 6900 and 110
If neither a square nor an octagonal analog-digital face appeals, Casio’s iconic styles guide also highlights the 6900, with its triple-graph design, and the 110 series. The cited information establishes their design identities, but not a basis for ranking their performance against the models above. Compare the exact reference’s functions and dimensions before choosing one.
Compare the exact reference before buying
Family names indicate a design lineage; they do not guarantee identical functions across all variants. Use the model number and suffix when checking a retailer or Casio listing. A short checklist helps prevent a style-based choice from turning into a specification mismatch:
Rank #4
- Band Size: Mens-Standard
- Shock Resistant
- Auto LED Light with Afterglow
- Magnetic Resistant
- Display and style: Decide between a fully digital square, an analog-digital octagonal face, or another design such as the 6900.
- Power and time adjustment: Confirm whether the specific model has Tough Solar, radio-controlled timekeeping, Bluetooth or none of these.
- Fit: Compare the exact model’s dimensions and weight with a watch you already find comfortable. The GW-M5610-1 figures above should not be generalized to the full 5000/5600 family.
- Water resistance: Check the exact model’s stated rating and consider whether it matches your intended use.
- Price and availability: Verify the current listing in your region, including the full reference and suffix. Prices and stock can change.
What the 2024 title can—and cannot—establish
The title refers to 2024, but the available official Casio pages describe current products and do not establish which models were available, priced, or best-selling in 2024. The recommendations here are therefore organized by use case using current manufacturer information, not presented as a historical 2024 ranking. Casio’s US iconic-styles page displayed the GA-2100-1A1 at $110 in a search result; that is a dated regional reference, not a guaranteed current price. Check Casio’s iconic G-Shock styles page for its current listing.
Casio’s G-Shock best-seller page uses the question “What’s the best Casio watch?” That wording does not establish an independent ranking or prove that any one G-Shock is best for every buyer.
