For a watch that can cover swimming and diving, Citizen’s Promaster Dive BN0266-07E is a concrete option with a polyurethane strap and a manufacturer-rated 200 m/20 bar water resistance. If you mainly want a lighter automatic, Citizen also lists the Promaster Dive Automatic NB6005-05L, though its product page showed it as sold out when accessed. Neither example is an independently tested winner; use the activity and fit guidance below to decide what suits you.
Choose by summer activity, not by the word “water-resistant”
Water-resistance markings are not a universal promise that every watch is safe for every water activity. Citizen’s guidance distinguishes ordinary swimming, aquatic sports, and diving. Treat the rating as one part of the decision, and check the specific watch’s instructions and category before taking it into water.
- Daily wear and splashes: Match the watch to the manufacturer’s stated everyday-use category. A watch intended for incidental contact is not automatically suitable for swimming.
- Ordinary swimming: Citizen says its 5 bar category can be used for frequent water contact and ordinary swimming, but not free diving. Its guidance describes watches rated 10, 20, or 30 bar as suitable for aquatic sports.
- Skin diving or scuba: Citizen identifies watches classified as diver’s watches as suitable for skin diving and scuba diving. Choose a watch explicitly designed for the activity rather than interpreting a depth figure alone as permission to dive.

Which model fits your priorities?
Choose the BN0266-07E if you want Eco-Drive
Its Eco-Drive movement and 40.6 mm case are the listed details most likely to help narrow the choice, alongside the polyurethane strap and sapphire crystal. Citizen describes it as a 200 m/20 bar scuba-diving watch. The US page’s $450 price is only what it displayed when accessed in 2026, so check the listing for current price and stock before buying.

Consider the NB6005-05L if you prefer an automatic
Citizen lists an automatic movement, a 42-hour power reserve, a Super Titanium case, and a polyurethane strap. Its page showed “Sold Out” when accessed in 2026; treat it as a model to investigate rather than a confirmed buy-now option until you verify current availability.
For a watch mostly worn on land
Neither listed Promaster is established here as the most comfortable or best-value summer watch for daily wear. A dive-style watch may offer water-use capability beyond what you need. Compare case size and material, strap feel, movement preference, and the manufacturer’s water-use category against your actual routine rather than choosing by depth rating alone.

Comfort in hot weather: strap and case matter
Both examples use polyurethane straps, a practical material to consider for hot-weather and water use. Fit is personal, however, and the listed specifications do not establish how either model feels during extended wear. Case dimensions and material can also affect how a watch sits on your wrist; the BN0266-07E is listed at 40.6 mm, while the NB6005-05L is described as having a lightweight Super Titanium case. Try a watch on if possible, especially if you are sensitive to case size or weight.
If replacing a strap, confirm the lug width and model-specific compatibility before ordering a polyurethane or silicone alternative. A strap that looks similar may not fit securely.

What dive-watch features do—and don’t—tell you
Citizen explains that ISO 6425 diver-watch criteria cover more than water resistance: they include readability, magnetic resistance, shock resistance, and strap strength. Its explanation says the standard requires at least 100 metres of water resistance alongside those other criteria. A rotating unidirectional bezel is used to track elapsed dive time, while a screw-down crown helps increase water resistance. - Keep controls out of the water. Citizen advises against operating the crown or buttons underwater or while the watch is wet.
- Lock the crown as directed. Do not use a screw-lock crown while it is unlocked; follow the model’s instructions for securing it.
- Arrange periodic service. Citizen recommends regular servicing and gasket replacement at least every 2–3 years. Moisture, sweat, age, scratches, and warped components can affect water resistance, so a rating should not be treated as permanent.
