The choice is principally between case material, appearance and a substantial price difference—not a different movement or timing function. This is a specification-based review: Blancpain’s product pages establish the listed features, but not wrist comfort, measured accuracy or independent wear results.
What the 36.2 mm Air Command offers
Blancpain’s current US product pages list two versions of the AC03: titanium reference AC03 12B40 63B and red-gold reference AC03 36B40 63B. Each has a 36.20 mm case, blue sunburst dial, calf-leather strap, sapphire caseback and automatic F188B calibre. Both are listed with 40 hours of power reserve, 18 mm lug width and 3 bar water resistance. These are maker specifications, not independent test results.

Titanium or red gold: how to choose
Titanium: the less formal-looking option
Titanium gives the watch a different material and visual character from the precious-metal version. Blancpain’s published specifications do not provide case weight or establish how light it feels on the wrist, so a buyer should not infer comfort from the material name alone. Its US page displayed $23,500 when consulted in 2026.

Red gold: a precious-metal presentation
The red-gold version keeps the blue dial, movement and core dimensions, but presents them in a precious metal. Blancpain lists its case at 11.00 mm thick, compared with 11.50 mm for titanium; those figures alone do not establish a perceptible difference when worn. Its US page displayed $41,300 when consulted in 2026.
Choose by the case material and look you want, then try the exact reference if wrist feel or fit is decisive. The maker’s specifications support a clear comparison of material, stated thickness and displayed US price, but not a claim that one wears more comfortably.
What the flyback and bezel do
A flyback chronograph lets the wearer reset and restart timing with one pusher action, without stopping the chronograph first. Blancpain describes the function as follows: “A Flyback Chronograph allows the user to reset and restart the chronograph function with a single press of a button, without needing to first stop it.” Its September 2024 release contrasts this with the three actions required by a conventional chronograph to stop, reset and restart.

Blancpain also describes the countdown bezel and tachymeter scale as aviation-inspired timing functions. The maker’s 2022 release says: “Exactly like authentic vintage aviation watches, the new Air Command offers two distinct timing modes: a flyback chronograph and a countdown bezel.” These are descriptions of intended functions; the available product information does not establish their legibility or practical performance in use.

Blancpain lists the F188B as an automatic movement operating at 3 Hz, with a 40-hour power reserve, 35 jewels, a silicon balance spring and 255 components. The titanium product page also gives a movement thickness of 5.48 mm; the red-gold page confirms the same calibre and headline movement values. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently measured accuracy or reserve results.
Size, water resistance and strap fit
At 36.20 mm across, the case is the same diameter in both metals. The published case thickness is 11.50 mm for titanium and 11.00 mm for red gold. Blancpain does not provide independent wrist-fit measurements or wear observations, so trying the watch on is the reliable way to assess how those dimensions suit your wrist.

Both versions are listed at 3 bar water resistance. That rating is not a basis for treating the watch as suitable for swimming or diving; consult Blancpain’s current owner’s manual for operating and care guidance.
Blancpain lists an 18.00 mm lug width and describes the strap as interchangeable. That makes an 18 mm replacement strap a reasonable starting point, not a guarantee of compatibility: confirm the exact reference and attachment with Blancpain or a qualified watchmaker before ordering an aftermarket strap.
Heritage and the 36.2 mm format
Blancpain traces the Air Command to a 1956 predecessor and frames the current collection as a modern tribute to aviation and the brand’s watchmaking heritage. In its 2022 release, the company described the 36.2 mm AC03 as a smaller model joining the collection, with design details inspired by the historical chronograph. These are Blancpain’s heritage and design interpretations.
Verdict
The 36.2 mm Air Command offers the same stated flyback function, F188B calibre and blue-dial layout in titanium or red gold. The titanium version has a lower displayed US price, while the red-gold version supplies a precious-metal case; the published thickness differs by half a millimetre. Blancpain’s specifications make the comparison straightforward, but they cannot answer how either version feels, reads or performs over time. For those questions, assess the exact watch in person rather than treating product copy as a hands-on test.
