Instead of leaving city-to-UTC relationships fixed, its wearer selects a period and the watch turns 25 four-sided rollers to show the corresponding city and time information. That unusual display sits alongside a perpetual calendar and an expanded flying tourbillon.
How does the Récital 28 handle daylight saving time?
BOVET says conventional world timers can show local times that are out of step with daylight-saving changes because their city displays rely on fixed relationships to UTC. The Récital 28 addresses that problem with 25 four-sided rollers: 24 represent reference cities, while the additional roller is part of the display mechanism. Each roller can turn to one of four positions, corresponding to the selected timekeeping period.
The wearer selects a period using the sapphire cabochon in the crown. The rollers then rotate 90 degrees to reposition the city and time information. BOVET says this lets the watch display the correct readings for all 24 reference cities for the selected period. This is the manufacturer’s description of the design; no independent accuracy test of the watch is established here. BOVET’s product page and its savoir-faire explanation describe the mechanism.

The four settings are broad display modes, not a claim that every place changes its clocks on the same date or follows the same seasonal rules. The mechanism’s distinctive idea is that the wearer can switch the city display between those modes rather than relying on one permanently fixed city-to-UTC arrangement.

How many cities and time zones does it show?
BOVET specifies 24 reference cities on the world-time display. That is the useful count for the Récital 28: it presents city-based readings for 24 locations, with the roller position changing according to the selected period. A city count is not the same as a promise to cover every legal time zone or local exception worldwide; BOVET describes readings for its 24 reference cities.
What else is on the dial?
The world-time display is one part of a highly complicated mechanical watch. The official specification lists hours and minutes, seconds shown on the expanded flying tourbillon, a power-reserve indication, and a function isolator. Its perpetual calendar uses rollers for the retrograde date, month and leap-year indications, plus a disk for the day.

BOVET describes the movement as hand-wound and made in-house, including its hairspring and regulating organ. The published power reserve is 240 hours, or 10 days. The case measures 46.3 mm across and 17.85 mm thick, according to BOVET’s product specification. The product page provides the listed technical details.
BOVET says the redesigned tourbillon cage has 62 components, 39 of them newly designed, and weighs 0.35 grams. The company also states that the movement contains 744 components and that each is hand-finished. These are manufacturer-published figures, not independently verified measurements.

This is a comparison of the mechanism BOVET describes, not a model-by-model survey of other world timers. The Récital 28’s central distinction is the mechanically reconfigurable city display; its calendar and tourbillon add further complexity rather than changing that core idea.
Case, materials, production and awards
BOVET’s product page lists Grade 5 titanium and 18K red gold case options. In its June 13, 2024 announcement, the company also named 950 platinum editions, so confirm the material and configuration currently offered with BOVET or an authorized retailer. The watch is housed in BOVET’s Dimier Writing Desk case.

BOVET said the Récital 28 took more than five years to develop and that production is limited to eight watches per year in its June 13, 2024 announcement. The same announcement says Robb Report named it 2024 Watch of the Year. BOVET’s news index identifies the Récital 28 as the 2024 GPHG Mechanical Exception Prize winner; both award references are reported by the manufacturer.

BOVET does not publish a retail price on the product page; it provides an inquiry route. Revolution Watch reported a price of CHF 716,000 excluding VAT for a platinum example in a 2025 publication. What to know before buying or setting one
This is a large, hand-wound collector watch with a dense complication set. Its dimensions are published as 46.3 mm by 17.85 mm; those measurements help establish scale but do not substitute for trying the watch on. Current availability and the exact material configuration should be confirmed directly, since BOVET’s public page does not provide a live inventory or public price.
BOVET advises owners to follow the model’s setting instructions exactly. Its FAQ also recommends avoiding strong shocks, magnetic fields and extreme temperatures; storing the watch in its box or a dedicated case away from humidity and direct sunlight; and having strap adjustments handled by a BOVET boutique, authorized retailer or qualified watchmaker. The company recommends maintenance approximately every five years, with service and restoration performed by BOVET watchmakers or certified service partners.
